Nub theory prediction wrong?

Hello!
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with having their babies scan photo predicted as one gender (using nub theory) but when you went to the 20 week NHS scan they said the other gender?!

I have heard so many mixed things that I don’t know whether to believe the nub theory’s prediction or not now! Obviously as long as the baby is healthy then I will be happy either way but the nub theory is driving me round in circles now!! Xx

Nub theory is just an educated guess.

I'd be inclined to go with the 20 week scan. What sex did they guess at using the nub theory?

The nub theory said boy due to the nub being raised at 13 weeks… but the pregnancy symptoms I’m getting are those of a girl - really bad sickness etc. but then I know all pregnancies are different so I’m just very confused haha!

It’s when the nub theory experts have a 98% accuracy rating that you question everything! But then it’s not scientifically proven… minefield hahah! X

Sorry I should have said I haven’t had my 20 week scan yet… I’m just simply wondering at this stage if anyone has had a nub prediction change or if it’s mainly accurate x

So, they are wrong 2% of the time :)

The only thing that is 100% accurate is when they are born*. Even finding out at the 20 week scan can be wrong.

DS2 was very* obvious on a 37 week growth scan though 😂

I had zero sickness or symptoms with my girl wouldn't have even known I'm pregnant! Craved all Savoury too.
My nub theory came back as an "early girl... Still time to rise for a boy" this time around yet my pregnancy is so different this time! Still craving Savoury but I feel so so sick and even though I'm only 16 weeks I feel like I'm already carrying different.

My gender scan has been moved twice now due to covid so I'm intrigued to see if baby is a girl

Whoops, I meant zero symptoms/sickness with my daughter 11 years ago. Nub predicted a girl this time too but my pregnancy is very different! X

I will just wait and see what the 20 week scan says 😄
@Olive60 when is your gender scan?! Exciting!! Do you have a preference to the sex or happy either way? ☺️

Yes nub theory can be wrong- predicted girl for dc3 and he is definitely a boy! Mind you, scans can also be wrong- my 2yo was pronounced a girl at his 20w scan and he is also a boy!! Symptoms are nothing to do with the sex of the baby though- I had godawful sickness in all pregnancies and all boys here.

Symptoms depend on the pregnancy, not the sex of the baby. You're confusing old wives tales with science Grin

I had a scan at 14wks (NHS growth scan) and the sonographer commented that it looked very much like a boy but that he wouldn't swear to it in court. He was right but I don't think it's something I'd rely upon!

Thanks everyone!! I sort of wish I hadn’t heard of this nub theory because I’m even more confused now! Is it right that once a nub rises it won’t go back down to be a girl? … or is that a myth too 🤣🤣

I was really really sick with my boy and nothing with my little girl x

Can I see your 12 week pic? I’m pretty good at the nub theory.

I haven't had any sickness with my boy, in line with the theory, but colleagues of mine who are or were carrying boys have had awful sickness, so I really wouldn't go by that! Nub theory is more accurate than old wives tales for sure :)

Do you have a post from the nub expertsbecause I can’t make out a nub on your pic at all!

That is what I thought!! And why I was shocked they could make a prediction?! Finding it now hang on x

The skull shape looks boy to me too. Were you hoping for a girl?

ChristmasAtHogwarts · 10/01/2022 15:10

Oooh interesting. I wouldn’t say that’s a nub, I posted my 12 week scan on their fb page and they said boy. Currently holding a 9 week old girl. I think the nub theory is accurate when done properly - but the nub isn’t visible on your pic (for me at least!)

JazzyMcFazzy · 10/01/2022 15:12

I would genuinely be happy with either… I was just wondering how accurate it was because I’ve heard so many people say it was right for them, but the same amount say it was wrong for them! So I got confused haha x

@jazzymcfazzy my private gender scan was suppose to be this Saturday just passed but my partner got covid. I changed it to this coming Friday for then myself and daughter to test positive! 😭 starting to feel I'm not suppose to know! We have 4 girls between us so a boy would be amazing but I feel we won't be getting that! A girl will make us just as happy xx

@Olive60 oh no!! I hope everyone in your family is feeling ok now! Bloody covid!! 4 girls sounds amazing ❤️ Bet you have your hands full! But how lovely for you all! It would be fun if you had a boy now … why do you think you won’t get that?! Based on having 4 girls? Either way I think it will be great for you all to have another little addition 🥰 xx
