Page 2 | Nub theory prediction wrong?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with having their babies scan photo predicted as one gender (using nub theory) but when you went to the 20 week NHS scan they said the other gender?! I have heard so many mixed things that I don’t know whether to believe the nub theory’s prediction or not now! Obviously as long as the baby is healthy then I will be happy either way but the nub theory is driving me round in circles now!! Xx

@JazzyMcFazzy op did you find out? Intrigued to know if they were right or wrong? I submitted mine to them and they said boy I've got a while to go before we have 20 week scan and I'm undecided whether to find out or not x

I'm not bothered either way as have a boy and girl anyway,

The sickness thing of girls making you sick is a load of crap. I have two boys was really sick with the first nothing with the second. My friend has two girls she had no sickness at all. Until 20 weeks you cant really be sure, Eben at 20 weeks they can't be sure. Although everyone I know who has had boys have been told you are definitely having a boy whereas those expecting girls have always been told that they're almost certain it's a girl but left a bit of doubt!

Nub theory is only 50/50 so of course it can be wrong!

For anyone checking this forum and thread, I have just had the 20-week scan and I wanted to share this with anyone obsessed with baby’s gender (which I was too!). The nub theory was wrong for me…the nub image at 12 weeks had a short line above a longer line (apparently indicative of a boy) and in a couple of the images looked angled up and in other images looked parallel. From what I had read from ‘nub experts’ online, the shorter part of the nub is meant to be on the bottom of the longer line for a girl…

Coming out of our 20-week scan, where we have found out it’s a girl (!), I can catagorically say that nub theory is just a theory and has been a real waste of time for me scrolling through images and reading up on nub theory! From 12-16 weeks there are a lot of changes to the nub as it forms into genitals and at 12 weeks girl and boy nubs can look almost identical. 12 weeks is just too early to say gender with any real confidence, and I recommend the women out there don’t get too obsessed with this theory and their scan images (if you can help it!).

Thanks for this. I think when they throw quotes like 98% certain you beleive it. Which company did you use? I’m wondering if the angle of the songographers makes a difference I’ve had two different guesses from nub techs one two different pics. One girl and one boy. Attatched them 🙄

Hi girls I'm actually due in three weeks with baby number #4! Nub theory thought boy but private scan thinks girl... I don't mind either way just intrigued I spose. Ps probably easier to see upside down.

Both of mine were accurate so can't help with the difference. How recent was your private scan? If it was recently, I'd be inclined to believe that, nuns are essentially educated guesses that can change down the line. Not to say a sonographer can't be wrong too!

My nub theory said boy. I thought I wanted a girl as I already have a boy but I was actually over the moon when they said boy at 20 week scan. Trust me tho you really won’t care what it is once you know and will be happy either way x

We had a 13w scan and it was a clear photo. We did send to nub techs and got 80% girl, since we already have a girl we wanted a boy this time. I was reading all these posts, we know it's theory but at the same time ppl say it's 98% accurate in 13 weeks. We read all these forums to built the expectation and hope to have the gender every individual wanted, could be a girl or boy. Stressful times 😊 I'm writing this message to give back to the community and to say that we found out that we are going to have a BOY, well hopefully as the sonographer told he is 100% confident. So, there is always a chance that nubs DO can CHANGE even after 13 weeks. Just take this as just a theory as nothing of confirmed until the baby is born. Good luck to all.

They were actually wrong as I got told at private scan I'm having boy and was confirmed couple days ago at hospital x

This is my 12 week scan I got told that I was having a girl because of the nub theory but could have swore I could seen a male nub! Also the skull and the chin I was certain it’s a boy. I want a boy incase anyone didn’t know 😂 what does everyone think?
