Sha&ll I give you my gory birth story?

Saw the obs Wednsesday who said I would give birth at the drop of a hat and just needed a thorough sweep on Friday to produce baby.

Went in Friday. Swept thoroughly (ouch) and watched as contractions mounted and auxillary prepared little crib thing.

Friday night nada.

Saturday nada.

Sunday - properly induced. As he was so sure the baby would come quickly, and I had been doing lentilly baby prep classes, decided to forgo all pain relief and do breathing and ipod meditation crap. Twelve hours of back to back contractions, two ipod recharges and - nada.

Me in tears, dh in mild panic, baby still under my ribcage.

Obs said that would rupture waters after he finished doing a breech section on another woman. Dh left for quickie entrecote at nearby restuarant. Obs rang me from the theatre to say he had been thinking about me and my wish to have c section at the slightest problem and also the issue about why the baby was not sliding gently down towards the outside world as he should be doing.

Thus decided to go for c section.

Thank God - cord wrapped twice round baby's neck and prolapsing over head. No decelerations on monioring, therefore no sign. It owuld have been panic stations if he had gone ahead and rupterued waters.

Had vile section -spinal block during height of contractionsw as not fun - and spent nine days in hospital but the result is a wonderful bundle asleep next to me.

Thank you all for all your messages and suppoert - and thank you too to the wonderful mumsnetters who have sent a cuddly toy - anon - a huge carton of goodies - also anon - and the wonderful Icarus who provided the cot in which my little bundle is now asleep.

xxx

(not smiling about the three days of nothing, horrible section and nine day recovery, but about your little bundle)
