Gender Reveal during Lockdown

Hello all, tomorrow my partner has her 20 week scan and we plan on finding out the gender.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to reveal this to family and friends during Lockdown?

You’ll be finding out the sex, not the gender. Sex is a biological fact [pedantic as fuck]

No need to piss on his chips

Just tell them the sex. It’s not a big deal to anyone other than your parents and possibly siblings.

RaspberryBubblegum · 08/04/2020 20:41

Facebook? Or if you have the patience then a letter or card in the post? They sell baby reveal scratch cards on ebay! 😅

TheWordmeister · 08/04/2020 20:42

Phone or text?

Does it have to be an American style hooha? It's not a big deal.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 08/04/2020 20:44

Just tell them. Honestly no one cares apart from you what it will be.

user1493494961 · 08/04/2020 20:46

Phone them.

Sconio123 · 08/04/2020 20:46

WhatsApp group thingy or maybe zoom?

All the best for the scan :)

Sexnotgender · 08/04/2020 20:47

Phone people and tell them the sex?

stophuggingme · 08/04/2020 20:50

I had planes flying the information across the sky

MyDcAreMarvel · 08/04/2020 20:53

Honestly the only people that care about the sex ( possibly) are the grandparents and possibly your sister if you have one. So just phone.

Russ93 · 08/04/2020 20:53

Wow so many people got triggered by using Gender.

The plan was video chat but wondered if anyone had any creative ideas.

Bake a cake with blue or pink sponge inside and share the video of cutting in whatsapp or on facebook

Don't be miserable to op guys, it's a lovely time in someone's life that parents want to celebrate and in these awful times family could probably do with some joy!

roarfeckingroar · 08/04/2020 20:55

Just tell them the sex.

You don't need a cake, balloons, song, dance or to "reveal" that its one of two biological options.

user47000000000 · 08/04/2020 20:55

I’m with wamnabangbang

Anything which brings a bit of joy now is great.... I’m not usually bothered by gender reveal but it’d be a welcome pleasure to video into some cheesy piñata with blue or pink paper flying everywhere!!

userabcname · 08/04/2020 20:59

I quite like watching gender reveal videos - usually it's a cake or balloon. Be careful though - I was told girl at my 20 week scan but he was a boy!

FamilyOfAliens · 08/04/2020 21:00

Wow so many people got triggered by using Gender.

I think you misunderstand the meaning of the word “triggered”.

RitmoRatmo · 08/04/2020 21:01

Just ring your mum and tell her?

I don’t get why all this mime-artistry nowadays. Are words just too old-fashioned?

RitmoRatmo · 08/04/2020 21:03

Also: if someone “revealed” a pink balloon/pony/cake etc I’d still be none the wiser as to the baby’s sex. Unless we’re saying only baby girls can wear pink (at which point I’d probably un-friend them).

YorkshirePud1 · 08/04/2020 21:04

I saw a very strange gender reveal video a while ago involving painted eggs. Half were blue, half were pink and the couple spent a lot of time trying to smash them on each other's heads. All but one were hard boiled and so the one that actually smashed was the sex. So weird.
I'm not really a fan of gender reveals personally, but if it's your thing and you're doing it over video chat with family I bet there are loads of simple ideas if you do a hashtag search on Facebook or Instagram.

Daffodil101 · 08/04/2020 21:04

Remember the days when we had a baby and they told us the sex and we phoned relatives to tell them?

That was fine.

Russ93 · 08/04/2020 21:05

Hey... we all need a little bit of joy in our life's right now

backaftera2yearbreak · 08/04/2020 21:07

Gender is not triggering it’s just the wrong use of the word.

Anyhow I love all the YouTube videos with reveals maybe take inspiration from there?

Daffodil101 · 08/04/2020 21:09

I know Russ. I just find it gives hand in hand with attention seeking and cane smashing and....

I’m an old grinch.

Daffodil101 · 08/04/2020 21:09

Cake not cane. 🙄
