OK maybe not so little!! I don't need to tell you it is a looooong story...

So I toddled off to the midwives with DH in tow on Wednesday morning, I told her what had happened on Monday with me swelling up and protein in my wee etc. she said she wanted us to go to the hospital again because of the size of me, as this was happening the student midwife was doing my BP, she turned to the midwife and said I think you had better check this, I am getting 130 over 100, midwife said I will check it because if that is right they are going to hospital in an ambulance... 999 and blue lights later we get there, no bags, no one to pick DS from school, was looking like an emergency section, was looking like a complete nightmare!!

They did my BP again when we got there and it had gone back down to my normal, but I couldn't wee at all, so they had to catheterise me to get a sample which again was really concentrated and had a plus of protein, and they sent some more bloods off which came back with a high urates (or something like like that) all of which was enough for them to want to induce me for signs of pre-eclampsia, which was much better than the emergency CS! So they put the gel in at 2.40, DH came home to get DS from school and then go and get his mum and bring them both back to our house for the night, and to get our bags, and a list of other things bearing in mind we had bags packed for the home birth!

DH, MIL and DS came to see me at visiting time, I had been having some very mild niggles but no worse than what had been happening for the last 8 weeks so it didn't look like the gel had done much. They all went home and I settled down for the night, couldn't sleep due to the niggles so I was up walking about a bit and bouncing on the birth ball, still just niggles every now and then, nothing major, I got back into bed and watched the last 1/2 hour of American Pie 3, the credits came up and I felt something in my belly pop, felt like the biggest kick ever, made me gasp for air, I thought perhaps something might happen afterall, turned over and loads of water came out, I wasn't sure if I had wet myself or if it was my waters gone, called the midwife and you will never guess what she did??? LMAO we went to a side room so we weren't disturbing the other ladies, and she said to take my knickers off so she could look, and she had a great big sniff of them!!! LMAO I was in stitches, she probably thought I was off my head (oh and by the way, it smelt exactly the same as what me and DH were smelling the other day, so they had been leaking for a while....), then a contraction hit, she checked me and I was 4cm, she went and phoned DH, 15 minutes later I was up on delivery ward, with just the lip of my cervix to go, DH walked in, I pushed 3 times and out he shot with loads and loads more water behind him!!

He, is called George, middle name TBA, 8lb10oz born on Thursday 7th December 2006 at 3.47am, with only a little bit of gas and air, and a lot of noises that I couldn't make again if I tried!

I have been away for so long because they wanted me to stay in for 24 hours because of the urates thingys and the high BP, we got home today about 2 hours ago.

I haven't read the thread/s, but I will do at some point. I am going to go and get in the bath adn have a sleep before the next feed.

Hope everyone else that was waiting for their babies aren't waiting any more! xxx

christmas2NDTIMEmistletoenwine · 08/12/2006 21:42

Big Big congratulations NJ!

You have no idea how worried we've all been!

Welcome little (not so) George Oliver.

It sounds like all those weeks of contractions stood you in good stead for a super speedy delivery. You were fantastic! And all with a whiff of gas n air, none of the proper pain relief you were so concerned about!

Big hugs to you all. I hope DD1 is enjoying being a big brother.xx

christmas2NDTIMEmistletoenwine · 08/12/2006 21:43

I meant DS of course!

Too many girls in our house!

SHHHHsantaiscoming · 08/12/2006 21:49

I was a lurker but glad all went well. Gosh quick delivery then..!! Hopefully minein jan will be just as quick (obviously allowing dh chance to get there!!)

Congratulations. x

MerrilyTooBuzzi · 08/12/2006 21:52

NativityJane big congratulations. I'm in lulumamas bar and we are having a big big round of dinks to wet the babies head....
Lovely news.

NativityJane · 08/12/2006 21:59

Thanks to everyone

George is doing really well, breast feeding is off to a good start and I hope it carries on that way, the local support group thing has already rang today since we have been home and the lady is coming to see us on Monday so I really hope if we do come across any problems we can get them sorted.

DS1 has coped brilliantly, he has lots of kisses and cuddles for the baby and is fasinated with his tiny feet and hands.

Got family, friends, and the midwife all due tomorrow so probably won't get chance to get on again for a bit, but when I do I will try and put a picture up.

Huge great big thanks to everyone on the threads, I really couldn't have got through the last few weeks with out you all, and to those that have sent emails I will get back to you all at some point, it might be in a few years at this rate but I will!!

I am off for a cuddle and some sleep. G'night xxx

Aw, welcome to little George and well done to you! D'y think he'll be one of those people who is always late no matter how hard they try (edam at last thinks of a plausible excuse to fend off the punctuality freaks)?

christmascarol3 · 09/12/2006 11:20
