OK maybe not so little!! I don't need to tell you it is a looooong story...

So I toddled off to the midwives with DH in tow on Wednesday morning, I told her what had happened on Monday with me swelling up and protein in my wee etc. she said she wanted us to go to the hospital again because of the size of me, as this was happening the student midwife was doing my BP, she turned to the midwife and said I think you had better check this, I am getting 130 over 100, midwife said I will check it because if that is right they are going to hospital in an ambulance... 999 and blue lights later we get there, no bags, no one to pick DS from school, was looking like an emergency section, was looking like a complete nightmare!!

They did my BP again when we got there and it had gone back down to my normal, but I couldn't wee at all, so they had to catheterise me to get a sample which again was really concentrated and had a plus of protein, and they sent some more bloods off which came back with a high urates (or something like like that) all of which was enough for them to want to induce me for signs of pre-eclampsia, which was much better than the emergency CS! So they put the gel in at 2.40, DH came home to get DS from school and then go and get his mum and bring them both back to our house for the night, and to get our bags, and a list of other things bearing in mind we had bags packed for the home birth!

DH, MIL and DS came to see me at visiting time, I had been having some very mild niggles but no worse than what had been happening for the last 8 weeks so it didn't look like the gel had done much. They all went home and I settled down for the night, couldn't sleep due to the niggles so I was up walking about a bit and bouncing on the birth ball, still just niggles every now and then, nothing major, I got back into bed and watched the last 1/2 hour of American Pie 3, the credits came up and I felt something in my belly pop, felt like the biggest kick ever, made me gasp for air, I thought perhaps something might happen afterall, turned over and loads of water came out, I wasn't sure if I had wet myself or if it was my waters gone, called the midwife and you will never guess what she did??? LMAO we went to a side room so we weren't disturbing the other ladies, and she said to take my knickers off so she could look, and she had a great big sniff of them!!! LMAO I was in stitches, she probably thought I was off my head (oh and by the way, it smelt exactly the same as what me and DH were smelling the other day, so they had been leaking for a while....), then a contraction hit, she checked me and I was 4cm, she went and phoned DH, 15 minutes later I was up on delivery ward, with just the lip of my cervix to go, DH walked in, I pushed 3 times and out he shot with loads and loads more water behind him!!

He, is called George, middle name TBA, 8lb10oz born on Thursday 7th December 2006 at 3.47am, with only a little bit of gas and air, and a lot of noises that I couldn't make again if I tried!

I have been away for so long because they wanted me to stay in for 24 hours because of the urates thingys and the high BP, we got home today about 2 hours ago.

I haven't read the thread/s, but I will do at some point. I am going to go and get in the bath adn have a sleep before the next feed.

Hope everyone else that was waiting for their babies aren't waiting any more! xxx

YES! Sooo pleased that everything has turned out fine - sounds like a good quick birth, which you deserve with all the medical drama and the longest build up in maternal history. I'm relieved and I've only been watching your thread - I can't imagine how elated you must feel!!!

MerryPiffmas · 08/12/2006 14:13

Finally the little guy is OUT!
Many congrats, glad you got a decent birth after all that.
I did suspect after your last post that they might whip you in for fear of pre eclampsia.
Just glad the induction worked fast.
don't read all the posts, you;ve not got enough hours in teh day!
Rest up and take care
xxxxxxxxxx
