Wicked Water Baby is here

Yuk, yuk, yuk. Sorry to anyone who's still pregnant but bloody hell! Baby waterwitch arrived at home last night at 10.15pm after a horrible, brutal and shocking 7 hour labour. For a supposedly easier second baby she sure wasn't. (different partner though for anyone worrying - ex dh was Indian and 5'11", my now dp is Caucasian, 6'4" - apparently Indian babies are usually smaller according to my ex MIL) Wondered why it bloody hurt so much only to discover that she was 9lb bloody 8oz, which is why I needed 2 stitches and have various vile tears. Screamed the house down, thank god ds was at my mum's. It was much harder than last time since ds was only 7lb and the midwives said I was most definitely not a wuss and managed really well considering her size and mine (I'm 5'3" ) They got a bit worried towards the end as her shoulder was stuck but they screamed at me to push so I did, to the sound of my perineum tearing. Ouch, ouch, ouch. Still, I'm glad she's finally here after all the angst, although it's a shame my fear turned out to be justified. Despite it all, I'm glad I stayed at home since the midwives agreed I'd have ended up with some kind of intervention if I'd have been in hospital (like drugs? Shit, should have gone in then ) and at least dp was with me and we were all go to sleep in our own bed when it was all over. Wouldn't ever do it again if you paid me a million quid. Good job I don't have to then...Still no name, suggestions welcome.

www. you must have Ava - just looked it up and it means "water" in Persian - wicked water baby!

These are all the feminine "water" names from Behind the Name - just in case you would like a water name...

ANAT f Near Eastern Mythology
Possibly derived from a Semitic root meaning "water spring". Anat was a goddess of fertility, hunting and war worshipped in many regions of the ancient near east. She was the sister and consort of the god Baal.

AVA (2) f Iranian
Means either "sound" or "water" in Persian.

MAYIM f
Possibly means "water" in Hebrew.

MOANA f,m Maori
Means "wide expanse of water" or "sea" in Maori.

NILOFER f Iranian
Means "water-lily" in Persian.

RAN f Japanese
Means "water lily" in Japanese. The water lily symbolizes purity in Japan.

REN f Japanese
Means "water lily" in Japanese.

SARASWATI f Indian, Hindu Mythology
Means "owning water" from Sanskrit saras "fluid, water, lake" and vati "owning". In Hindu mythology this is the name of a river goddess, also associated with learning, who is the wife of Brahma.

SHUI m,f Chinese
Means "water" in Chinese.

TALLULAH f English
Pronounced: ta-LOO-la
Means "leaping waters" in the Choctaw language. This is the name of waterfalls in Georgia.

Well done. We all knew you weren't a wuss. Shame you had to prove it to yourself though. Is ds back yet? What does he think?

(i'm not crossing my legs as liver is starting to fail so assured of medically necessary elective c-section- what a shame!)

ThomCat · 01/12/2003 15:09

OMG - I automatically crossed my legs as I read that! It was the bit where you said 'to the sound of my perineum tearing.' Aggghhhhhhhhh!!!!

Anyway it's all over now - and well done you!

Welcome to the world little water baby.

PS I like janh suggestions of Ava - i think that's lovley.
