THE BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT

Thursday morning my midwife came to check me and Tigermoth over. Being concerned about a potential new position of the wee man she sent me off immediately for a scan at the local womens hospital. Et viola Tigermoth was Transverse... lying sideways.

Friday my midwife and I meet at 11am for further "control" as they call it here at the hospital. At 10am my mucus plug showed itself. Another scan showed that Tigermoth had moved his head down abit as a result of me standing on my head and doing the pelvic rock. The doc said.... "Paps he is very mobile and I am reluctant to move him, I recommend a C-Section" We negotiated that instead I would come in when labour started and he would move him and then go home for the birth. So plan A and plan B drafts in place.

Midwife, I and baby paps all went and had lunch while at the hospital and I was getting contractions. In hindsight should have nabbed the doc who was having lunch at the same time and said.. lets move Tigermoth NOW. But I went home and by 5.30pm the midwife was at my door and taking me to hospital. Where is my dh? Well he had to go to Luzern for the day and I had encouraged him. He had to jump in a company car and autobahn it FAST to Bern.

DH got to the hospital to find that I was 6cm dilated and going for a C-Section. The doc who was going to move him and gone off duty and the "Chief" (boss doctor) had said that they would not move Tigermoth and that I had to have C-Section. After a quick flash of anger that I internally swallowed for a later date I said "Well that´s a dichotomy" "Well C-Section it will have to be!" My midwife departed with baby paps to go to dinner with mutual friends who where baby paps was to spend the night anyway... It all was falling into place in a Leftfield manner. So Papillon of me!! It all just worked out smoothly despite not having a home birth that it was meant to be this way.. and I am totally cool with it. No trauma

So off we went immediatley - dh enjoyed the "show" immensenly and said he knows me inside and out now! He was hanging over the curtain totally fascinated "Paps you should see what they are doing to you know!!" I was trying not to laugh! Also trying not to just conduct normal everyday conversations... like "btw dh when I went to the hospital this morning and discovered that you had not taken baby paps out of her PJ top!"

Oh yes on the Friday morning when I had the scan I had asked the doctor what the sex of the baby was. We had no name finalised for a girl and suddenly lots to think about what with him being transverse. The doctor said... "its a GIRL"

Well Tigermoth weren´t no GIRL... he´s a man, man! So when I he his immediate lusty cry!! I said "is it is a girl?" DH said.. "yes" Then "Its a BOY"

Blimey jeepers - what are hospital people LIKE... no wonder I like home births... Anyway had to laugh

So they stapled me up and gave me Tigermoth to hold really quick... cos I made sure before the operation that DH and I would have immediate access to him.

Checked myself out of hospital to be home Monday night. So back under the care of my midwife who comes daily to see us all. Under midwife orders of...

First week in bed
Second week on bed
Third week around bed

So DH is looking after me and doing everything. I just lie around, bf, sleep when possible, and receive visitors.

Also enjoying lovely baths that the hospital told me not to have, but that are behind the times on that pleasure factor. Lavender bath coming up after this birth announcement post. (am I doing ok Beety )

Tandem feeding... just had a lovely half hour with baby paps while the boys sleep on and on. Tigermoth is a darling and we already speak together beautifully. He sleeps between dh and I and baby paps is next to dh on her futon. The tribal bed and it is all fantastic.

Hope that covers it all... any questions of a mystical nature will be answered in the Yurt

Thanks all for you posts and I have some more photos and will send some soon

((((((()))))))) and kisses
