Well without an induction (ok I had a sweep on Thursday) and without a fuss Anastasica Eileen Rose arrived at 10.14 am yesterday (4th Oct 12 days early).

Contractions started at 3.53am...hospital by 8am, 4cm dilated. In the birth pool by 9.30am, baby was born underwater. Tried gas and air for an hour but it made me feel demented

Can't quiet believe it.

Weighed in at 6lbs 8oz.

I had a male midwife the whole time, who was great.

And I would like to say a big thank you to Pupuce, doula extrodinare (sp?) who saved my DDDDH from dealing with my awful transition period alone and turned out to be a pretty darn fine photographer .

And I'd like to say thank you for all the amazing massive suport you've all given me over the past few months, mumsnet has helped me more than I can ever say.

Can you tell I'm tired and emotional

Lovely news - so glad you got the birth you wanted, and welcome to Anastascia!

jodee · 05/10/2003 10:07

Oh well done! Congratulations all round - I'm welling up.
Pupuce,is that a first - being doula to a Mumsnetter I mean?

doormat · 05/10/2003 10:09

Congratulations Pie
Welcome to the world Anastasica Eileen Rose

Well done pupuce
photograph is lovely

pupuce · 05/10/2003 10:25

Pie had a fab birth, she prepared really well for it and managed to do it superbly.
Hats off to Queen Charlotte's labour ward who were very good too - didn't once push her into a more managed birth.
She had no drugs at all.... and baby breastfed well too.... Pie was out in 6 hours (considering that she came in a wheel chair - that's not bad going)

Jodee- yes it was my first mumsnetter
It was very "strange" as in some ways I knew her better (from some of her posts on non-pregnancy related topic) than I do my other mums....

WSM · 05/10/2003 10:30

All the congrats in the world Pie, fab pic (what a clean newborn !).

Here's hoping your SPD will settle soon

hoxtonchick · 05/10/2003 10:30

Oh how fantastic, I've got tears in my eyes too reading this. Well done Pie and Pupuce, what a wonderful mumsnet baby effort! I'm so pleased for you Pie - especially since this pregnancy has been such a PITA in many ways. What a fantastic result

EmmaTMG · 05/10/2003 10:35

Oh what a sweetie-pie!
Well done Pie and I hope the SPD has vanished too.

Pie, are you the first MN 'customer' for Pupuce? I think it's wonderful.

EmmaTMG · 05/10/2003 10:46

oops, just seen pupuces post, and you are the first MNer.
How fantastic, and what a lovely thing modern tecnology can be, to meet someone through cyberspace and have such a lovely story to tell.

Ghosty · 05/10/2003 10:53

Pie ... I am welling up ... what fab news!

Oakmaiden · 05/10/2003 11:00

Congratulations Pie! I was fairly sure that was why there was no word from you yesterday

Here's to getting your body back to normal REALLY soon!

motherinferior · 05/10/2003 11:08

Piepiepie!

Wow!

Oh, I'm crying too. I've been really quite worried, as I bet everyone else has too - what a completely wonderful end to such a grim pregnancy.

That's so lovely. Oh, I'm going to snivel cheerily for the rest of the morning - and I know just what you mean about not quite believing it's HAPPENED.
