My husband has died

He died today. He was 42. He had recently been diagnosed with a heart condition and spent a month in hospital but we believed he was going to be okay. He went upstairs for a rest and they think he had a heart attack. He didn't cry out, they think it would have been fairly instant. I found him when I went to check on him a few hours later and I knew he had gone, I did CPR but I knew it was too late.

He was my soul mate, my other half, the true love of my life. We have a little girl who is almost 3. If it wasn't for her I would kill myself. I can't imagine life ever having any meaning without him.

I am so sorry peach. It is so cruel.

You will be in shock for a long while. I hope you have someone with you; I found it easier to feel when there was someone else there.

There are no words that I can offer to console you. Nothing makes this better. But I promise that one day you will not be broken by this anymore. It will be hard and messy and fucking monstrous. Hold on to your enormous love for each other, from your other thread and this one, your love for him shines through everything. That love never disappears and it will always be with you and your beautiful daughter. You will come through this.

My love to you, your daughter and your family. Again, I am so sorry for your enormous loss.

That's such a devastating loss, I'm so very, very sorry.
Like others have said, it's early days so minute by minute, hour by hour.
Another recommendation for WAY, www.widowedandyoung.org.uk/
They were invaluable in the early days particularly , for me . I was widowed four years ago and I'm another one reaching out a hand to you.
Try and keep drinking hot drinks, hot sweet tea was all I could take initially.
You've had a terrible body blast of trauma. Take the help offered, I'm so very sorry for you and your Dd.
Sending love and strength.

TwentyViginti · 28/10/2020 22:34

Mike needs you to live, you see, so you can tell yours and his beautiful child all about him.

HarryBlackberry1 · 28/10/2020 22:34

I’m so sorry 😔. I’d read your previous thread and was so pleased that he seemed to be through the worst.

You won’t know this now, but you WILL get through this. It’s going to take a while but things will get easier in time.

Sending love and thoughts to you and your dd xxx

I am so very sorry for your loss. Your previous post mentioned his mother also had DCM. Your local NHS genetics service can provide advise regarding your daughter and for any of his siblings. If your husband hasn't already had genetic testing, please speak to someone at the genetics clinic tomorrow about storing his DNA.

Gazelda · 28/10/2020 22:40

I'm so sorry. Allow people to take care of you. Thanks
