what actually happens when you m/c

I have had some fresh red blood last night but it had stopped by 7 this morning, if it is m/c what am i supposed to expect?

Hi iliketosleep - sorry to hear you have had bleeding again. Have you contacted your GP/Midwife? I think every miscarriage is different but classic signs are red blood (that doesnt stop) and abdominal cramping. It is worth getting it checked out - but remember that seeing a healthy baby with a heart beat on scan is a really good sign.

I would just like to repeat what lcy said. Get yourself down to GP and insist on early pregnancy clinic appointment. Or try your local hospital. If it offers maternity then it should hve early pregnancy unit which will see you if you are bleeding.

i have a scan at 3, i was just wondering what to expect as i thought with m/c there was loads of pain and clots etc, this seems to be very laid back kind of bleeding. Im 10+4 weeks. I bled old blood last week and had an u/s on monday which showed baby was fine, then i started bleeding red blood at 7 last night till around about 4 this morning although i didnt notice till about 7 (got up to go to the toilet at 4 and there was a little fresh blood but at 7 there was nothing)

Wait until you have your scan and relax. You are being looked after well by the sounds of it.
If it is a MC then it all depends on doctors and you. Some like to deal surgically some medically. It all depends on what you what.

Fingers crossed you wont have to answer any of those questions and it is just a bit of bleeding that means nothing.

Hi - well done for getting the scan at three. Like Ronshar said it may just be a bit of bleeding - which is more common than most of us think in pregnancy - the scan will hopefully reassure you.

They can be very different, no 'normal' way really. Glad you have not got to wait long for your scan - will be thinking of you ond hoping for the best.

I really is different for everyone. LAst time I had no bleeding just contraction pains and the first time I had spotting the day before getting any pains.

Fingers crossed all is alright and you won't need any m/c related info.

I had slight bleeding early on with both of my pregnancies which both turned out fine.

In both cases I had compelte bed rest for a week to make sure (I had a very nice doctor at the time).

Keep your feet up if you can!

Oh my love that is so sad. If it helps then there are lots of mc threads on here. We have all been through this and I promise that at first it is very hard. The pain is unbearable, but it does get easier.

Take time to mourn the loss of your baby.

I am so so sorry iliketosleep. Such a shock after the scan last week - life can be so cruel. Look after yourself - post on here if you have any questions or just want to rant, cry etc...

iliketosleep - your hormones will be all over the place. I remember thinking how well I was coping, but that was only because my body still thought I was pregnant. It took a good few weeks for the miscarriage to sink in and my hormones to get back to normal.

I just read on the March thread that you want to TTC that you want to try again as soon as possible. Lots of people will warn you against this BUT there is no medical reason you can't. I felt exactly the same when i had my mc 3 weeks ago - and we are already trying. It is amazing how quickly your body gets back to normal.

BUT make sure you look after yourself and DH emotionally. The hormones are still around for 2 weeks and with the grief as well it can be hard. I went and still am going through a roller coaster of emotions. i had two weeks off and this really helped me deal with things. Look after yourself. Drink lots of wine, eat chocolate, and watch dvds with your feet up.

im always up for a chat I have had ALOT of people saying you have to wait for 3 months before ttc again but i thought "why?" so im glad you clarified that for me......my dp had better watch out
