Any hope

Hi! I would be really grateful for some advice. I'm suppose to be 7 weeks pregnant, but before last weeks had three weeks of bleeding and Hormony levels only raising by 250 every 48 hrs. I had a scan 2 weeks ago where they saw no signs of pregnancy, then last week they saw a sac, going back on Friday for another scan. Is there any hope?

Thinking of you B and take care. Don't really know what else to say but it's such a tough and confusing time - I do understand xx

ladylush · 24/07/2007 14:52

Apparently there is no associated risk of m/c with internal scans. If something is going to happen anyway though, maybe something going up there might dislodge it a bit. If the mucus plug is firmly closed the probe wouldn't do anything, if it isn't the pg was probably at risk anyway. Sorry this is happening to you. It is so awful. Is your dp with you? I asked about the internal scans and risk of m/c several times as I had 3 m/c and was told catagorically that there is no risk. Are you having pains?

B3CCY

Please try and stay calm. I know what you are going through. I had bleeding with my son which was bright red. Can you ring the hospital for some reassurance? It is so hard waiting and worrying. I am with you 100% if you want to chat offline I can give you my email.

(((((((hugs)))))))

smilesattheweekend · 24/07/2007 14:55

I had an internal scan last Monday and they did say that it could dislodge some mucus, also they use alot of jelly when they put the dildo cam in and this is waterbased and can look like it has streaky blood and stuff in it.

B3CCY · 24/07/2007 15:24

Hi you lot- thanks for your support. I should be working but I can't think of anything else- one of the many benefits of working from home- I can log on here and work don't have to know. i can't really say that I have any pain, just a bit of an ache now and again but they said that lots of women have aches and pains as the uterus is growing. I just feel so anxious, all the same signs and symptoms are there as before and i can't help feeling that the outcome is only going to be the same.

smilesattheweekend · 24/07/2007 15:33

It is good that you are at home. Take it easy. I know it is really hard trying to second guess what is going on. I am at home still too and have left the laptop on, I get the most support on here.

B3CCY - How are you today? Been thinking about you.

B3CCY · 25/07/2007 12:54

Thanks smiles- bleeding has tailed off to almost nothing in the last hour or so- am anxiously waiting for EPAC to call me with hcg results which they say should be over 1500 for this stage. Called my cousin this morning and told her. We are quite close and she gave birth to her second child last year (who i am godmother to) whilst I was in the middle of my miscarriage (which was pretty upsetting for me at the time). Was not going to tell anyone other than our parents but just felt the need to confide in someone my age who is sympathetic.

B3CCY · 25/07/2007 13:34

Have just spoken with the EPAC. hcg level is 3420, will go back for another blood test in the morning and get results on Friday morning. Feeling a bit sick this afternoon actually.

LittleSquirt · 25/07/2007 13:49

That's great news B3CCY!!!! Good luck for Friday but sounds like this might have been just unexplained bleeding rather than bad news.

Keeping fingers and everything crossed for you!!!! xxxx

smilesattheweekend · 25/07/2007 14:15

Glad you are OK and bleeding has tailed off. Just take it easy and try not to worry, looks like things are progressing well. I think I mentioned to you before that I had unexplained bleeding when pg with my son, it is such a worry and I used to count how many sleeps it was til the next scan or appointment.

Yeah I has bleeding with my daughter as well, in fact I thought I had a period and didn't realise I was pregnant until I was a couple of months in! Just with past experience can't help feeling it could still go the other way. I'm going to try and keep an open mind until Friday.

smilesattheweekend · 25/07/2007 14:46

I am quite envious of people who just get pg quickly and have no worries or problems - excuse the pun but they don't know they are born! Would love to have no worries (I am sure everyone who is pg is anxious), but when you have had a loss it is so hard to cope mentally. Just have to take each day and keep everything crossed I supppose.

Smiles - sorry but I had to laugh when I read 'everything crossed'. I know how absolutely ridiculous this is but I literally have got everything crossed, even try not to cough and sneeze too hard which I know is stupid (and then has hubby in stitches and me laughing so hard at myself that it was a pointless exercise anyway). Anyway I'm not ashamed to admit it, I can't be the only woman that has had these silly little notions. I told hubby off yesterday for driving over a speed bump too fast! I think paranoia has set in !

On a more serious not though, I nipped down the library today and borrowed Lesley Regan's Book Re: Miscarriage. It says that if you have had three or more in a row you have a 43% chance of having another compared to those lucky women that have no worries. The way I am going to try and see it is that we still have a 57% chance that all will be okay!

smilesattheweekend · 25/07/2007 17:32

Lots of LOL, I too have reprimanded both my husband and my mum for driving over road humps. I bet you dont push too hard when having a number 2 as well - pmsl!!!!
What do you think of the book so far - is it worth me getting a copy. I also saw a book on amazon by someone who says you can avoid mc, will look it up and get back to you, might order both from library.

I had an operation just after I got pg and didn't know when they did it (had general anaesthetic which probably didn't help), the op was to remove a cyst from my sinus, they did the op up my nose - they told me afterwards not to sneeze - how the heck!!!!

Legs crossed, arms crossed, fingers crossed, eyes crossed!!!

B3CCY · 25/07/2007 19:15

ROFL!!!! Stop making me laugh! My pelvic floor's working overtime here! Yeah - all of that as well- I make sure I've got lots of fibre in my diet!

Amazon have got quite a few of Lesley Regan's Books, I've borrowed 'Miscarriage, Women's experiences and Needs' by Christine Moulder as well but not had chance to skim through that yet. Lesley Regan's seems good. I've read a bit more of it this afternoon and was quite reassured by the fact that of the women who have 3 or more recurrent miscarriages, and are referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic, about 70-80% have a successful pregnancy. I've beome quite the little statistician this afternnon!

smilesattheweekend · 25/07/2007 21:12

Cheers B3CCY.
This is the book i had seen on amazon, don't think i will buy it, but will order it from library. If you go to amazon and put in the search box "miscarriage" there are quite a few listings.

ladylush · 25/07/2007 21:44

Hi ladies Glad your bleeding has tailed of B3CCY and keeping fingers crossed for your next HCG levels on Friday. The level seems nicely high though - especially considering your blood loss. Hopefully that is a good sign.

I searched book shops last week for miscarriage books and could find none, so might have to order the Lesley Regan one via the internet. Also the other book looks very interesting. This site is sooooo useful

B3CCY · 26/07/2007 09:52

Hi girls- went for blood test this morning and I may not have to wait until the morning for the results. They said that if I ring the ward this evening and a doctor is available they should be able to give me the results then. Fingers crossed. Feeling sick again today but it could be just nerves.

ladylush · 26/07/2007 10:20

That's good if you don't have to wait. I giggled at the "keeping everything crossed -literally" as I did that too when I started spotting. Had a bad cough at the time and turned purple trying to suppress it! I remember holding my tummy when I was previously miscarrying and telling it to please stay. I think every woman does these silly things when the pregnancy is much wanted.

smilesattheweekend · 26/07/2007 10:52

Glad you are OK B3CCY - keep us posted. Am back at work today - it is good to be back, everyone been really nice and I have managed not to get upset (yet).

I went back yesterday. Ditto - everyone was nice but I did get near the building and feel like turning back home

B3CCY · 26/07/2007 12:24

Glad you're both finding work okay. Take it easy though, and if you need any more time off make sure you take it.

smilesattheweekend · 26/07/2007 12:37

Thanks B3CCY. Will do.

Ladylush - I felt the same intrepidation, got through the front door and ran upstairs to our office before anyone could see me - have gradually ventured out more.

Yes, I feel stupid for telling so many people. I thought it was safe as I was almost 11 weeks before I went on holiday and the previous m/c were a lot earlier. One person who clearly didn't know however, remarked how I was "glowing"! I thought blimey, you don't know the half of it mate!
