Pelican Bibs at what age!?

My son uses a pelican bib, even at school for lunch time. He is moving into high schol next year, should he still use the pelican bib even though he really needs to?

I think you might have posted this on the wrong thread. Why does your son still use a bib at 10/11 years old?

You should just let him make a mess. He will be laughed at if he wears a bib at high school Most children stop wearing these by the age of 3 or 4.

does he have special needs? is he in mainstream school? tbh, am amazed if he is NT and mainstream that he has not cottoned on to the fact no-one else wears a bib

perhaps you can teach him to eat less messily if he is NT?

odd, also recommends pelcian bib to someone on another thread with a 9 year old

No he doesn't have special needs. He just ruins his cloths if he doen't use a pelican bib. I might get him to keep weraring it in his new school. Is that best?

Please don't make your son wear a pekican bib at high school. He will get teased a lot.
You should stop the bibs now. He will never learn to be tidy if you keep making him wear a bib. DD3 is dyspaxic and she used to be quite messy at 10 but I would nevr have dreanmed of puting a bib on her.
You can wash cloths but a child will end up with a very low self esteem if you keep treating them like a baby. Bibs are not for over %'s unless they have Sn.

Unless there is further information which you are omitting to tell us, it would be verging on cruel to make him wear a bib at high school. He will be bullied mercilessly.

Just read my post. I meant not for over 5's. Also I'm beggining to agree with PoisonToadstool. Is this really for real? If so do you actually know he wears the bib at school?

No wind up! He currently sits with the younger childeren at his current primary school and wears the pelican bibs with them. Now that I think about it, I could send him to high school with a pelican bib but doubt he'd wear it. He'd look silly with food all over him, so I might try get him to eat more neater before high school. I'll put one in his bag so he can use it for emergencys. That might be best.
I'm just not sure how to handle all this which is why I talking to you gys for advice. I didn't mean to make this sound like made up or daft.

get him to stick a napkin in the front of his top rather than a bib. My lo's stopped wearing bibs around the age of 18 months.

Don't even put a bib in his bag. Some other child is sure to find it.

yes for emergencies. i assume you mean yoghurt/custard emergencies?

dd regularly comes home looking like she's squirted yoghurt down herself but I don't let it bother me as it washes off anyway. She is nearly 6 btw.
