Does anyone else's DC sleep in a 'kneeling' position, face down, bum in the air?

DS is 18mo old so fairly safe I think.

He's usually clutching 'teddy' underneath him. But teddy is small, he's not being 'propped up' by teddy.

Yes, both of them, then when they are really asleep they go flat out and look like they've been "ironed" onto the bed!

solidgoldsoddingjanuaryagain · 06/01/2009 18:48

DS is 4 now so doesn't do it so much but used to all the time.

Tillyscoutsmum · 06/01/2009 18:49

DD is 20 months and always sleeps like that - very cute

naswm · 06/01/2009 18:50

yes both of mine can often be foiund in that position at 6.5 and 4.6

SoMuchToBits · 06/01/2009 18:50

Ds (aged 8) has done every so often, and still does occasionally.

CharCharGabor · 06/01/2009 18:51

Yes DD sleeps like that at 17 months. I wonder why they all do it.

randomcupsoftea · 06/01/2009 18:51

yes - looks lovely

FrannyandZooey · 06/01/2009 18:52

yes lovely isn't it?
in yoga this is called pose of a child

naswm · 06/01/2009 18:56

why DO they do it though? now we have established for the OP that all our children do it?

Minniethemoocher · 06/01/2009 18:59

Yes, DD is 5 years old now, still sleeps bum in the air sometimes, so cute!

Why do they do it? I always thought that it was to avoid laying on a wet nappy!

MrsSeanBean · 06/01/2009 18:59

Interesting link there with yoga F&Z. Maybe it is instinctively relaxing? Although I have tried it out myself and can't say I found it so.

my 2 and 4 year old do this, all curled up in fetal position on their tummies.

Bubbaluv · 06/01/2009 19:03

I think they do it to make us keep loving them even when they've been horrible all day. It is soooo adorable!

ScottishMummy · 06/01/2009 19:03

yes.arse in air, head in pillow

misscathcart · 06/01/2009 19:03

dd does this sometimes too. She's nearly 2. Looks so cute

duckyfuzz · 06/01/2009 19:03

DTD2 used to sleep like this all the time, its very sweet

HeadFairy · 06/01/2009 19:05

yeah, all the time, ds wakes up with a cracking quiff as a result. It's very cute. He sometimes does it when we're having a bed time cuddle too, lies with his face on my chest knees on my lap bent under him and his bum in the air.

MrsSeanBean · 06/01/2009 19:05

That's it! Of course - foetal position.

Yes ds2 aged 20 months also does it, also clutching 'ellie'. Too cute. How old are they when they stop?

NAB3lovelychildren · 06/01/2009 19:10

Yep. Both my boys did it. Can't remember if DD did.

andaSOLOnewyear · 06/01/2009 19:11

My two did/do this. When Dd got to a year old, I laid her on a pillow, so she was head and trunk on and bum and legs off it IYSWIM.

psychohohohoho · 06/01/2009 19:11

all mine sleep/slept like that.

one of the scrummy parts of parenthood, watching them sleep like that.

Almost as good as the bum squirmy strechy thing they do as a teeny baby
