Does anyone else's DC sleep in a 'kneeling' position, face down, bum in the air?

DS is 18mo old so fairly safe I think.

He's usually clutching 'teddy' underneath him. But teddy is small, he's not being 'propped up' by teddy.

She now lays on her front with bum in air only sometimes.

wotulookinat · 06/01/2009 19:14

My DS sleeps like that sometimes. Not all the time.

LoveMyLapTop · 06/01/2009 19:18

DS2 still does sometimes, looks so sweet

tattycoram · 06/01/2009 19:19

My DS has just stopped doing it. I loved it though, so so sweet

alicecrail · 06/01/2009 19:31

My dd 14mths always sleeps like this. wakes up in morning with hair stuck up at front, looks like its been backcombed!

bigTillyMint · 06/01/2009 19:32

DS(7) goes to sleep like this, but then turns to normal side / back / front positions!

mummyhill · 06/01/2009 19:33

My 3 yr old and my 7 yr old both still do this

ChubbyChub · 06/01/2009 19:33

Both mine did/do this. So adorable.

Earthymama · 06/01/2009 19:36

I did many years ago!! My mum came up once to find me in my cot in that pose with her best hat on and the contents of her make-up bag spread everywhere, I'd climbed out and back in again! !

TeenyTinyToria · 06/01/2009 19:59

Ds did this for ages when he was about 15-18mths old. Very cute!

He now opts for the teddy strangling pose or the horizontal sprinting pose, both rather amusing.

FairLadyRantALot · 06/01/2009 20:03

my oldest slept like that ever since he could position himself....my other 2 sometimes sleep like that....

likessleep · 06/01/2009 20:18

My 14mth DS sleeps like this.
I put it down to the reason why he ends up at one end of the cot with his head against the bars. I think gradually he shifts himself forward as his torso relaxes IYSWIM (like a caterpillar crawls).

WinkyWinkola · 06/01/2009 20:24

I used to sleep like this. M;y DD (20 mos) does too.

I think it's an indication of exceptional intelligence and beauty.

FeelingLucky · 06/01/2009 20:28

I still sleep like this and I'm almost 37 years and 11 months
Can't agree more with Winkywinkola's comment

edam · 06/01/2009 20:31

A child who is safely tucked up in bed, fast asleep, with its bum in the air, can be forgiven everything, it's so cute (short of supergluing the cat, I suppose).

pamelat · 06/01/2009 20:59

DD does this (11 months).

I thought it was as though she collapsed mid protest at going to sleep?!

Hulababy · 06/01/2009 21:00

DD did this when younger too. Sh's 6 now and has stopped doing it.

ilovetochat · 06/01/2009 21:01

my dd 18 months sleeps like that and if i put my hands on her back when she is settling she grabs my fingers and pulls them under her tummy so i'm hugging her, i love it!

MrsSeanBean · 06/01/2009 21:44

I am melting with love for my ds at the moment. I have always loved him of course, but this is such a lovely age and I am sooooo in love at the moment.

Sigh.... life doesn't get any better than a little bum in the air and a milky kiss just for me.

littleboyblue · 06/01/2009 21:47

Yes, ds 17m sleeps like this, exactly the same with the teddy too, no matter how many times I lay him down, it's not long before that big bum is up in the air again!

Frizbe · 06/01/2009 21:48

dd2 used to do this as a baby, she's nearly 3 now and has just about stopped doing it, more of the exhausted flat on her back now

AnybodyHoHoHomeMcFly · 06/01/2009 21:48

Oh yeah all the time. Lovely isn't it (he's 23 months)

Cicatrice · 06/01/2009 21:49

Yep, thats my boy.

I also liked the small baby stage of sleeping like a hieroglyphic.(sp)

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 06/01/2009 21:50

DS2 started doing it in the last couple of months - we took it as a sign he was a bit too tall for his cot and have moved him into a bed. - he still sleeps like that so I guess he just likes it.

AnybodyHoHoHomeMcFly · 06/01/2009 21:50

And if he's not like that he's in some poetic pose with an arm flung behind his head like he's Shelley or something.
