My dd has been crawling from about 7 or 8months she can walk really well when holding my hand or walking round the furniture and runs when pushing her push along toy.

She has even done 11 steps alone (which was about a month ago). I dont try to push her into walking or force her but thinking maybe I should start practising with her as feel she is capable but does not want to do it.

But she wants me to walk around holding her hand alot which I cannot be bothered to do.

DS1 - never crawled (or rolled for that matter either), cruised from 11 months (with me standing him up ), started pulling himself to standing at about 14 months - walked at 18 1/2 months,

DS2 - crawled at 7 months, found half way up the stairs at 7 1/2 months, walked at 10 months.

DS3 - crawled at about 10 month, pulled himself to standing around same age. Walked at 14 months.

Earliest walked around furniture at 9m and unaided at 10m.

cantpick - I thought DS1 was never going to stop cruising furniture (or walk without holdin my hand) as he did it for 7 months - then he was just off one day

cantpickyourfamily · 12/12/2008 20:08

i'm sure she will do it at some stage but am now starting to feel like people will think I am a lazy mother as do not push her into walking....

Also I really wanted her to walk before our holiday as do not want her crawling around with shorts and little dresses on, but we are going in one week...

My DD has been cruising since 6 months old so though she would be walking really early. BUT she is 1 this month an still not walking.

DD can get around really easily so not interested in walking. It is annoying as she doesn't like sitting on laps etc so it would be nice to be able to put her down when we are out and let her walk.

wrinklytum · 12/12/2008 20:16

12 months for ds.

dd took her first independent steps a couple of weeks before she was 3.It was a moment of many tears of joy.(She has sn)

pombear · 12/12/2008 20:16

Erm, 18 months finally, but needed lots of practice holding hands, and ever since has been the type of child who likes to practice things a lot before doing them for real. When your little one is grown and done with toddling around and holding hands, you may miss that little clammy fist holding yours. It's not for too long, she depends on you to help her learn lots of other things, and maybe this is one of the things she'd like your reassurance with. Go with it! Hold her hand for the next week and maybe when she's toddling around with those little dresses on, you'll miss that little crawling bottom!

V. early - crawled at 5 months, walked at 10 months. It was a headache!

TattyCatty · 12/12/2008 20:18

DD didn't walk until 20 months. Didn't begin to crawl until 14 months (the last in my post natal group by at least 3 months), and even that was only a very poor commando crawl. Was starting to cruise by about 16 months, and could walk pretty confidently holding your hand by 19 months, but definitely no independant steps until the grand old age of 20 months. Is still a bit behind her peers in terms of physical achievements at 2 and 3/4 (only just starting to climb stairs properly and still barely gets both feet off the ground when she jumps.), but will catch up eventually.

ThomcatIsForLifeNotJustForXmas · 12/12/2008 20:28

DD1 - has SN's, never crawled, bum shuffled - walked at about 5 and a half

DD2 - took first steps at 8 months and at 9 months never crawled again

DD3 - got up and walked across the room on her 1st birthday. Couple of weeks later she was steady enough to not go back to crawling.

SmallShips · 12/12/2008 20:31

DS started walking at 12mos

DD was crawling at 6mo, pulling up and cruising at 7mo, not walking yet at 10mo.

basementbear · 12/12/2008 20:46

DS1 bum shuffled and finally stood up one day and started walking at about 16 months!

DS2 crawled, cruised and started walking at just over 12 months
