My dd has been crawling from about 7 or 8months she can walk really well when holding my hand or walking round the furniture and runs when pushing her push along toy.

She has even done 11 steps alone (which was about a month ago). I dont try to push her into walking or force her but thinking maybe I should start practising with her as feel she is capable but does not want to do it.

But she wants me to walk around holding her hand alot which I cannot be bothered to do.

I have never heard of sn what is it?

If i'm honest I am not desperate for her to walk but feel she would have more fun on holiday if she could walk...

DD 8 1/2 months (and I was SOOoooo very smug until I realised how bloody dangerous it is- they have NOOOOOOOOO sense) and DS was 'late' for our family as he was 10mths. Utter nightmare. If yours isn't walking yet, enjoy it. Unless they are deeply frustrated in which case my sympathies.

My son bottom shuffled and made it to 22months before he finally walked unaided phew!!! But saying that you wouldn't know it now - he never stops!!!

snickersnack · 12/12/2008 21:02

Just before and just after a year. Can't remember which one was before and which one was after though

mrsruffallo · 12/12/2008 21:02

Totally agree with shootrudolph- I was so happy that dc2 walked at 8 months.
It turned into the hardest year of my life- he got bloody fast by the time he turned 1.

Pantofino · 12/12/2008 21:03

We got married when dd was 15 months and she had just about mastered it then as i recall. God it's so hard to remember after a few years...I know I have it all written in her baby book which is.....somewhere....

StealthPolarBear · 12/12/2008 21:03

12ish months for first tottering steps
13 months for walking

AndaPartridgeOnADustyTv · 12/12/2008 21:06

DD crawled at 6.5 months and pulled herself up at 7 months and walked at 8 months. She seemed to only crawl a couple of times though and then nothing untilpulling herself up and then walking.

Gorionine · 12/12/2008 21:16

dd1 walked 13 mths
ds2 walked 11 mths
ds3 walked 17+ mths
dd3 walked 9 mths

They all did do different things at different times and I think it is great that they keep us in suspens sometimes... just so we do not get to bored or start taking things for granted.

noonki · 12/12/2008 21:17

DS1 12 months
DS2 took his first step on his first birthday then gave up til he was 13 months as he had only learnt to crawl on his hands and feet a couple of days before so was enjoying that !

our neighbours little one was walking at 7 months. Was a bit difficult for my nieghbour as her be treated her daughter much older than the baby she was.

Hulababy · 12/12/2008 21:18

DD: cruised with furniture from 5 months, crawlwd at 8 months, walked 10 onths

tracyface · 12/12/2008 21:18

My dd crawled at 10 months but didnt walk until 21 months and I too had bought loads of lovely dresses for her to wear on holiday So she spent most of her time crawling around in an old pair of dungarees with her dress tucked in (not a great look!) To get the wear out of them im still squeezing her into them with a pair of tights and a t- shirt underneath. I hated that disaproving look you get from people when you are carrying a toddler and they say is she still not walking?

VirginBoffinMum · 12/12/2008 21:31

dc1 12 months
dc2 11 months
dc3 18 months +

shopaholicDIVA · 12/12/2008 21:33

dd 11m
ds 14m

shopaholicDIVA · 12/12/2008 21:35

dd never crawled or attempted. ds crawled since 11m even he learnt to walk he prefered to crawl if needed to be faster. he thought crawling was faster and safer

christywhisty · 12/12/2008 21:44

Ds only comando crawled at 8 months and walked at 10 months

DD crawled 9 months walked 13 months

cantpickyourfamily · 12/12/2008 22:51

when dd was wearing dresses in the summer she walked on her hands and feet alot as the dress would get in the way, she looks like a lil crab when she does that.

but i think that will be hard work for her to do all the time on holiday. Also she does not mind crawling on the floor but I am worried about her knees getting scratched on the concrete floor on holiday...

a little OT, sorry...

does how early they'll bear their own weight influence how soon they walk?

pfb 4mo stands up and supports herself holding onto something, has pushed up onto her feet since about 2mo and she LOVES her jumparoo bouncer

she hates tummy time and isn't rolling over yet - just wants to stand up all the time.

i am terrified she'll be a really early walker and i'll never get ANY peace!
