Mine is "I forgot!" - (or, worse, "I forgot, all right?") said in a slightly accusing tone, said as if it should be a perfectly acceptable excuse and complete explanation for anything done, not done, damaged or left behind.

My dd started saying "No Way Mummy" at about 16 months!

Flamesparrow · 12/10/2008 14:14

i'm tired.

in response to being asked to do something

PinkTulips · 12/10/2008 14:49

x did it/x hit me/i didn't do it when clearly a complete and utter lie that isn't even believable

for example the other day she and her friend went too far down the road so i called them back and they reluctantly turned round and started coming back. x made it back a good 5 mins before dd and was busy playing in the garden while i repeatedly asked dd to move her bum. she then bursts into tears and states 'x hit me' when no such thing happened and if she has an iq higher than 5 she should be able to figure out that i know full well it didn't happen

best yet was the other day though. she and ds were playing and suddenly he starts screaming and crying. i run in to find him flat on his back crying and ask dd 'did you push him?' to be told 'no, he fell by himself. but he got away from my doll's house'

SmugColditz · 12/10/2008 14:49

exasperatedmummy, ds1 had a speech delay and his 'why' stage was particularly intense, even the doctor commented on it!

seeker · 12/10/2008 14:51

Lol at "cock"! is he a Top Gear fan, by any chance?

"but mum" and "I know the F word" .. when challenged I get "but daddy says it ds6 and dh37

"can't remember" dd4

PinkTulips · 12/10/2008 14:55

i got myself so worked up with dd's i forgot to do ds's!

he's taken to telling me he's finished a meal and then coming up and saying 'i'm hungry' less than 20 seconds later

it annoys me all the more because he's a good eater!

exasperatedmummy · 12/10/2008 22:08

Ah, thanks for that colditz - i shall expect a lot more whys then.

Dottoressa · 12/10/2008 22:09

'It was like you know like really cool'

I hate like being used in stupid american tv manner. Like.

And -

'Ooopsy! I lost it/forgot it'

Grr.

stealthsquiggle · 12/10/2008 22:16

"I was just...."

"or what?"

Ellbell · 12/10/2008 22:27

DD1 (8): "It was an accident" [things like not flushing the toilet, putting shoes on top of the kitchen table and kicking her sister hard in the knee can all, apparently, occur "by accident".

DD2 (6): "Bling!" I don't even know what she thinks it means, but this weekend she has been saying it every five minutes...

Smithagain · 12/10/2008 22:29

The deep, groaning sigh emitted by DD1 whenever tea is laid on the table. I don't know why our company and the effort of eating delicious, home-made food bores her so much.

She's only 6. Heaven help us when she's 14

LuLuMacGloo · 12/10/2008 22:35

Mum - eeeee.??????????????????

The precursor to every single question/comment/remark. Followed by an expectant and long pause - to which I am supposed to reply 'yeeeesssss?'. Drives me completely demented. Why can't they just ask me THE FLAMIN' QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And relax.

Ive left my coat in the school.

I must have forgotten my book in the school.

It was dd1/dd2/ds1/ds2 (apply randomly chosen name of sibling)

julesrose · 13/10/2008 09:47

I hate socks and I don't want to wear shoes.

Smithagain · 13/10/2008 11:15

If it's a phase, it's a very, very long one!

GooseyLoosey · 13/10/2008 11:20

ds - "yes but actually....", in otherwords, if you take into account 10 impossibly obscure facts I am right mummy and you are wrong.

dd - "no mummy, listen" - I did listen darling - it is you who are not listening!

boredveryverybored · 13/10/2008 11:22

Not saying but doing when asked to find schoolbag/glasses/hairbrush etc walk into her room 10 mins later to find her standing in one spot turning and glancing around the room. Drives me beyond insane and have lost count of the times I have exploded in psycho manner screaming 'HOW THE HELL DO YOU EXPECT TO FIND IT LIKE THAT, HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU' etc etc

And caaaaaallm down!

Sanctuary · 13/10/2008 11:27

"Well its your fault because you said no if you said yes I would not of been caught out now would I" DS aged 8 repling to binning his packed lunch so he would get a school hot meal
