What age is too old for a Happy Meal?

My boys don't actually like McDs, so we don't go there. (We eat other junk food instead.)

ds1 went to a party today, and fortunately I had warned him to be polite, even though he doesn't like the food. But he was particularly surprised that they were given Happy Meals, given their age.

Not been for a while but last time ds(10) still wanted the toy but could have eaten far more !

DS1 is 8 and prefers the adult meal, not enough in happy mela

Dd is 7 and still likes the kids meal at Burger King.

You can get a 'large' happymeal for 30p more, which is med fries and medium drink, rather than small.

Any age is too old for a Happy Meal. Give them something proper - unless you want them to be part of the national obesity epidemic.

DD is almost 7 and still likes a Happy Meal.

Since when does a Maccas on the odd occasion make a kid obese? You do know they have fruit, milk and carrot sticks there if you want?
Even if not you're never going to end up obese from one junk meal on occasion. I make fattier, more calorific meals from scratch sometimes!

My ds2 aged 10 had a Happy Meal the other day. But he is not a great fan of chips so would probably eat more if it was something else.

The comment about eating MacDonalds would make you obese is a load of baloney. Ds2 was saying only this lunchtime how all his classmates say he is too thin. I explained that he was not too thin, just a normal skinny boy and it is his classmates who have put on more weight than they should do.

Eating MacDonalds occasionally (ie in the OP it was a party, no?) does not make you obese.

Mine are too old now for happy meals @ 9 plus yrs and they are happy to have a plain chicken burger meal with no mayo, which is just about the right size for them now. They don't care about the free toy.

I however, will still have one if I so desire!

I am 22 and get Happy Meals. I figured if I was going to go to McDs I may aswell cut the portion size down, besides I can't stomach a full meal.

I don't like the 'demonising' of McDs, or anything else. As DumbledoresGirl says it's about balance.

(It doesn't work with my boys though, they generally refuse point blank to set foot over the threshold of McDs atm!)

I don't take mine to McDonalds as I don't like the food or the business practices and my DC don't particularly like the food, but DD1-9 went with a youth group she belongs to and was amazed at how little food there was in a happy meal and came home starving after eating one.

Califrau, what is a "serve-you-right"? Sounds like what should have been said to the man who sued McD's because his coffee scalded him.

Not obese then but veins running with fat - the nutritional value of a MacDonalds is lower than the tub of lard its cooked in - as for those carrot sticks - how fresh do you think they are ? how many miles have they travelled ? wake up - they are there to make money out of you by feeding you and your children rubbish

my dc wouldn't know - they only get about two a year, and dd hates chips

I hate to see children eating adult meals in mcD's. I'm 31 and a happy meal is enough for me so it should be enough for a child of that age.

And at Doublebluff an 8 year old not having enough in a happy meal.
