mine are fitted on the wall too, but I dont have a dh, so have to do that sort of thing myself

last summer there was a parkfest in our town (Germany), we all went, there were fireworks at 10 pm. I was interested to note that almost every child in the town was present up til the fireworks, from babes upwards.

Lucy i do encourage him to read always have done thats why he has a reading ability higher than his years, BUT having asked him to settle down as i wanted to go to bed with the baby and him ignoring me and taking the book away initially and him climbing up to get it what else was i meant to do? short of putting the book in the safe or in bed with me and ds2

amytheearwaxbanisher · 23/03/2008 22:35

do you have to ask?really?you did wrong i hope you realise and wont do it again i do understand there are times when i feel myself start to lose it but if you get to that point just walk away and remind yourself your dd is four your an adult

TheLadyEvenstar · 23/03/2008 22:36

lol nigh i remember those times well, but hell i don't wanna break my nails now i have a reliable dp hee hee

amytheearwaxbanisher · 23/03/2008 22:39

ladyevenstar my mum gave me the odd slap on the bottom and admittedly it did me no harm but a slap on the faceand i dont think your child learnt anything from you ripping the book other then you have a temper so he better be carful why not just take the book away to be earnt back why show him its ok to destroy things when we are angry?

lucyellensmum · 23/03/2008 22:40

amy, the OP is long gone and doesnt need flaming, this is an old thread and me and lady are having a barney over a ripped book.

Still don't think you should have ripped it, but it does sound like he was being difficult, i guess the big question is, did it do the trick? Was he sufficiently chastened or did he kick off??

TheLadyEvenstar · 23/03/2008 22:42

Lucy he went to sleep and tonight he went to bed at 9 and went to sleep after 30 mins of reading.

Amy i didn't slap him on the face.

Lucy it seems to have don the trick and yes i will eventually replace it BUT he will have to earn it...now what chores can i get him to do....... chimney sweeping maybe...

TheLadyEvenstar · 23/03/2008 22:43

Amy for the record i would love to be shown 100 people without a temper bet i could show you 5 with a temper to every 1 person without.

amytheearwaxbanisher · 23/03/2008 22:48

i know you didnt but you were kind of condoning it or mabey i took the post wrong and ill be the first to admit to having a bit of a temper i just try very hard not to show it to my ds and discipline in a calm but very firm way

TheLadyEvenstar · 23/03/2008 22:53

i do keep cool most of the time but i wanted to go to sleep last night, i don't only have ds1 to deal with i have ds2 6 months as well n he keeps running me over grrrrrrrrrrr who suggested a baby walker????????????

soapbox · 23/03/2008 22:56

Dear God-that's the kind of yobbish behaviour that I'd be mortified if my DC's displayed

lucyellensmum · 23/03/2008 22:59

i'll shut up then

TheLadyEvenstar · 23/03/2008 22:59

Soap, i know but i keep reminding myself ds2 is only 6 months he won't be a speeding baby walker rider for too long

TheLadyEvenstar · 23/03/2008 23:00

LOL Lucy, he actually asked to go to bed tonight

soapbox · 23/03/2008 23:01

TheLadyEvenstar · 23/03/2008 23:03

oh gawd here we go again, soapbox i ripped a book nd proved to him i would carry out the warning, it is not something i have ever done before nor would i do again hell i can't be wasting money on ripping books up. but it did prove to him i was not playing a game

TheLadyEvenstar · 23/03/2008 23:04

Nigh got 6 month old laughing at me i just told him he is going on naughty step if he doesn't go to sleep and he started laughing lol. my poor feet are bruised something rotten

Nighbynight · 23/03/2008 23:08

mine were all terrible sleepers under a year. I was co-sleeping, so used to pretend that I was going off to bed, so they always dropped off next to me. It worked, until I started going to sleep myself for real.

TheLadyEvenstar · 23/03/2008 23:10

Nigh i have co slept since he was first born, but i think he over excited today with his new walker

Nighbynight · 23/03/2008 23:16

bless him. get him upstairs and the light off quick before OverTired starts!!

amytheearwaxbanisher · 23/03/2008 23:20
