Hi Can I start a poll on what time 2 year old go to bed and do they still have a nap.

My dd 26 months goes at 7 if no nap and 7.30 if she's had one

Thanks

My dd is 27 months and she goes to bed at 7.30. She hardly ever has a nap now, but if she does we only delay bedtime by about 15 minutes, if at all.

TheArmadillo · 22/08/2007 14:30

Ds is 2.10

Hasn't had nap since around 18 months.

Goes to bed between 6.20 and 7pm depending on how tired he is/when dp gets home from work.

He gets up on good day about 7am. On bad day about 5.30am

Baffy · 22/08/2007 14:31

Ds just 2.

Goes to bed 8-8.30pm and wakes up 8-8.30am

Has 1 hour nap in day usually lunch time

stressteddy · 22/08/2007 14:32

Ds 2.4. Has nap at 1.30 each day
Then goes up to bed at 7.30. After stories etc he is usually asleep by 8.30

RedFraggle · 22/08/2007 14:32

Should add...The time she wakes up varies from about 6.30 to 8 ish depending on how busy a day we had. I must get her outside and running if I want any extra sleep in the morning!

notsogummyanymore · 22/08/2007 14:34

My lo goes to bed (in theory) at about 7.15pm. If he doesn't get a sleep in the day he invariabley wakes up screaming at some point in the night but goes out like a light at bed time. If he has a sleep he's more difficult to get to bed but sleeps through! Bizzare life of a 2 year old!

Meeely2 · 22/08/2007 14:35

30 months and my DT's go to bed after ITNG - 6.50, asleep by 7.30. Nap for an hour during the day in the week at lunchtime and no naps at weekend.

Get up about half 6

bozza · 22/08/2007 14:36

Both of my children at 2 went to bed at 7.30. And they both still had naps. DD went intermittent on naps at nearly 3.

Wheelybug · 22/08/2007 14:37

dd 2.7 - is in bed, lights off between 7.30-8 (bath and stories before this). No nap and hasn't done since abotu 20 months because with nap she then doesn't go to sleep till about 10.

bozza · 22/08/2007 14:37

Oh BTW - I mean lights out at 7.30.

mumsemily · 22/08/2007 14:42

Thanks ladies, most helpful, I shall print this off and show DP.

DS - 27 months.
Has a nap at nursery (3 days pw) but won't at home!
Goes to bed 6.45 normally flat out by 7
Wakes up between 6.45 and 8 (can't work out why the huge differences!)

Interesting to see what times everyone else puts to bed - I didn't realise bedtime in our house was early (dd - 4 goes at 7 too). I see the evenings as me time and really look forward to them!

nell12 · 22/08/2007 14:45

DD gave up nap at about 22 months. Goes to bed between 6 30 and 7pm and wakes between 6 45 and 7 30 am

notsogummyanymore · 22/08/2007 14:48

Don't any of your lo scream in the night then?

Acinonyx · 22/08/2007 14:50

Dd goes down at 8pm, later if she's had a long nap. I'm surprised to see that so many are going to bed earlier - it's generally 8-9 (9 for those with very resistant toddlers)among my mum & toddler pals (about 8 of us). I suppose we've all copied each other. Gill

Acinonyx · 22/08/2007 14:52

Ocaisionally - we call tham 'phantom squawks' - they are literally usually one maybe 2 wails then nothing. I'm not even sure if she wakes up. Gill

Acinonyx · 22/08/2007 14:54

loler - dd actually naps on a mat at nursery with all the other toddlers - unbelievable! GIll

notsogummyanymore · 22/08/2007 14:54

my lo can scream for up to an hour with no apparent reason. Tried everything, just put it down to a phase...

Baffy · 22/08/2007 14:55

yes my ds sometimes wakes in the night. sometimes wants cuddles, drink of water etc...
usually settles again quite easily though

mumsemily · 22/08/2007 14:55

DD normally cries out in her sleep and at most moans on and off for up to 10 mins. But this could be 3 or 4 times in a night.

When ds was 2 he went to bed at 7 with a nap in the afternoon.
Now he's 3.5 he goes to bed after storymakers -6.20 and no nap. He sleeps till 6-7am.

bozza · 22/08/2007 14:59

DD was sleeping through quite well at that age, although she would have the odd bad dream. She would be crying but still asleep. Recently (she is 3.3) she has been waking up because she wants her covers/soft toy/toy car, she needs a wee, the door is closed etc.

muppetgirl · 22/08/2007 14:59

Had a phase of bad dreams where we have to bring him downstairs slowly wake him up and let him drift back to sleep but apart from that never calls out/screams in the night.

snowleopard · 22/08/2007 15:02

DS 2.2 still has a nap just before or after lunch, for about an hour. Bedtime offcially begins at 7, but after larking about getting ready, sometimes having a bath, milk, teeth cleaning and bedtime book, actuall lights out is usually about 7.45. He then chatters to himself for up to an hour before dropping off. Wakes up about 7.30 but can be earlier or later.

legalalien · 22/08/2007 15:41

DS 2.9 wakes around 6.30, has a nap for about an hour mid pm, and goes to bed around 8.45 - could probably cut out the nap and put him to bed earlier, but then I'd never get to see him since I only get home from work around 6.45! Suspect a lot of WOHMs take this approach (although does mean that you don't get the evening to yourself)
