Will do, though I won't hold my breath for a speedy response!

I had a gooey moment this morning - when I was rushing around getting ready for work my 20month old ds was playing in his room - when I went to investigate he had set two of his big teddies on the floor with plates in front of them and play food to eat - aahh - it is the first time he has really done imaginative play and I was very proud of him!

Toots · 07/02/2003 20:51

My 16 month old dd had been 'hugged' to the floor twice by her little mate. Little mate's mum - the great mate I made this time last year - had been joking in a nervous way that perhaps our dd's relationship was a bit one-sided. Then, as she was sitting with her dd on her lap, mine went over, grinned at hers and said 'hello pretty'. One of those teary laughing moments. Fantastic. Well done Lou33, by the way.

emsiewill · 07/02/2003 22:26

Today, dd1, who only 18 months ago was absolutely crippled with shyness, had 2 lines to speak in her class assembly. She knew them both by heart (still amazes me that she can speak another language - Welsh - fluently), and stood up and said them without any hesitation - despite the fact that the boy next to her had had to be sat on the teacher's knee he was cying so much.
Not an emotional person, myself, but I had a tear in my eye watching her. She's growing up so fast.

WideWebWitch · 07/02/2003 23:33

These are all so lovely to hear. lou33, let us know what response you get. Tinker, I am impressed, I could have gone much longer I reckon so well done

EmmaTMG · 08/02/2003 08:07

DS1 who will be 4 in April is very aware of my pregnancy, even though I'm only 8 weeks. On several occaisions he has asked if he can kiss my belly so that the kiss will go through my bellybutton to the baby.
Last night he also told me to chew my dinner up properly as the baby hasn't got teeth to chew it up and she will be hungry. He's convinced it's a girl.
Bless him!

Just wanted to share how proud I am of ds 3.25, I have a stinking cold, he went upstairs and got his pillow asked me to lay down and told me he will look after me. He asked me to pick a video and he would watch it with me, I choose toy story 2, we got the duvet and cuddled up with him asking me every 5 minutes if I was alright, then kissing me. He has been an angel and really looking after me, while dh it at work, luckily he is finishing at 11am today.

GeorginaA · 16/02/2003 10:32

Oh breeze that is so gorgeous! What a considerate little boy!

jessi · 16/02/2003 13:23

Breeze, what a cutie! I also have a cold and ds (who is the same age as yours), brought me his lamby to cuddle me while he plays with daddy downstairs!

Zoe · 16/02/2003 18:08

My ds (17 months) did all the actions to Miss Polly Had A Dolly for us this weekend, I have never seen a cuter thing in my life! I was really proud of him for remembering them all!!

dot1 · 18/02/2003 13:49

Hugely proud of our 14 month old ds who has started to 'roar' (well, make a really loud noise!) just as Jake comes on to do the Lion song on one of the Tweenies videos!!

dot1 · 18/02/2003 13:51

P.S. he also touches his toes in the 'heads, shoulders knees and toes' song! (we're working on the heads, shoulders and knees!!)

anais · 18/02/2003 20:46

My not quite 4 1/2 yr old read me a book this morning! Just picked it up and sat down beside me and read it, beautifully. So proud

Chiccadum · 18/02/2003 21:03

Know it may sound daft by my dd2 did 'So Big' this morning with both her hands in the air and a big cheesy grin on her face, I don't think I could be more proud, to say she was smiling so much means alot as she has cut 3 teeth in 2 days and is in so much pain aaaaawwwwwwww bless!

Chinchilla · 21/02/2003 20:17

Ds started saying 'Ta' today. I think that I confused him before by trying to make him say 'Thank You' instead, as he seems to have picked 'Ta' up a few days after me trying it!

Also, the thing that really melted my heart today was the fact that he joined in 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' when I sang it to him in the bath. He managed what sounded like 'Twinkle Little Star' when I sang it, and then hummed the 'How I wonder what you are' line. I'm so happy.

Enid · 21/02/2003 20:59

Had a bit of bad news the other day and sat on the sofa with my head in my hands. Dd1 (3) came in and said 'Go on mummy, you have a little cry and then I'll make you a nice cup of tea.'

bossykate · 21/02/2003 21:08

oh, enid! bless! hope whatever it was is now resolved, i think you have been through the wars a bit since xmas?

i notice on another thread you are recommending babington house, i am so keen to go there...

well, back to the subject of this thread, and perhaps it isn't appropriate, but...

my ds is so beautiful - he has huge blue eyes, blond hair, he has a great sense of humour (yes he really does), he's so clever and advanced compared with his peers, he's 19m but he can count (ok up to 15) and really tries hard to spell - he already knows how to spell most of his name! he moves up the classes at nursery more quickly than the others his age.

sorry this is so smug and bragging, but i do moan about him sometimes here and really i'm so lucky to have had the most fantastic child... it's just nice to be able to say the things you're proud of sometimes, thanks to mumsnet for allowing the space for that, it could never happen at a "real life" m&t group...

ok a little less whining would be good... and if only he would eat more...

zippyb · 22/02/2003 11:15

Am full of cold (again) and DS (who is also coughing his little heart out) came up to me with the tub of 'vick' & asked could he put some on me (which he did) & then very carefully put it away & said ' I'll put more on you at bedtime'- I love him so much - he's a real cutey even when he's driving me up the wall!)

Marina · 22/02/2003 19:45

enid, zippyb, they can be so kind, can't they...and I think that is a natural tendency in three year olds that can't be encouraged enough. Ds steps carefully over worms on the pavement and informs me it's because they're God's creatures too (we have a household exemption for wasps).
Bossykate, you've every right to be proud - he sounds like a little smasher and has clearly inherited his mum's head for figures!

WideWebWitch · 22/02/2003 19:53

Bossykate, now fancy you using the word smug! (JOKING! Don't take offence!) It sounds as if you have every right to be proud and you're right, we can't say these things at M&Ts groups, we'd be ostracised for bragging. He sounds sweet, and so does yours zippyb. Moments like that make the tantrums pale into (temporary) insignifcance, don't they?

batey · 22/02/2003 20:29

My dd1 has had a nasty virus recently, and when she was recovering she came to me and asked if she could give me a cuddle, then whispered "Thankyou for being so kind to me when I was poorly". Blub!!

bossykate · 23/02/2003 00:39

lol,www ! no, i am not using that word, i'm apologising in case anyone thinks i might be... that's how strongly i feel about it - it is one of the worst words i use for people i don't like! shhh! don't tell anyone!

Claireandrich · 24/02/2003 09:43

Just wanted to share my news that DD took her very first unaided steps yesterday! She is 10 months old and has been on her feet since 5 months, learning to cruise nad walk holding on to one of my hands. But yesterday she was trying to cruise the furniture and the gap betweeen two chairs was too big so she went for it - just one step, but so important! I was sooo proud! Since then she has been getting more bold, letting go of furniture and aking 2 or 3 steps before sitting down and clapping herself. Bless!

SoupDragon · 25/02/2003 14:58

When asked what he wanted for his 4th birthday, DS1 said "one of those switches you turn round like you and X have got". Bless him, he wants a dimmer switch for his bedroom!

I'm so proud he's not got discovered greed yet!!
