d.s stood up on his own for the first time about an hour ago. Sorry to be so sad

My ds pointed to a picture of a cat yesterday, and said 'Ka'. Apparently (acc. to dh) he also said 'Uck' today (whilst pointing at a picture of a duck I hasten to add!) I'm so proud that my little boy had stored these words up, and used them at the right times, without any prompting. Every time I think about it it melts my heart with pride.

Holly02 · 01/01/2003 10:05

My baby boy (2.5!) has caught on very quickly to potty training, and I am so proud of him. We only started him just before Christmas and now he does wee and poo in the potty, and tells me when he has to go. We've only had a couple of accidents and I feel quite relieved that it's going smoothly so quickly, I was really dreading the start of toilet training!! I'm so proud of him.

dot1 · 02/01/2003 09:43

very proud to report that dp and I went to buy ds's first pair of shoes!! Size 4F (bless..!).

No words yet (he's 12 months), but I swear he (kind of) goes "dg" when pointing to his favourite toy dog - does that count?!

Bozza · 02/01/2003 09:55

Of course it does Dot. Its so sweet when they are learning to talk. DS can say all sorts of words now and is just starting to combine and its endlessly fascinating. But be warned I took DS (22 months) for his fourth pair of shoes - so thats a total cost of over £100 since April (and thats not counting other footwear).

EmmaTMG · 03/01/2003 21:16

I've just got my DS2 to drink his milk from a beaker and today DS1 asked where all the old bottles were. 'In the cupboard' I replied,
'You can throw them away now Mummy'
'No, we can keep them' I said 'Mummy and Daddy might have another baby oneday'
My heart nearly melted when he reply was 'Oh that would be nice'.
when I asked whether he'd like another brother or a sister he said 'a brother just like Lewis'(DS2)
He'd been a little bleeder all afternoon but he redeemed himself in 10 words.

slug · 04/01/2003 13:59

The sluglet has a favourite book with flaps about a zoo. Every time she sees the lion she makes a growling noise. Yesterday she saw a picture of a lion in her new wibbly pig book and made a growling noise. I was so proud, the two pictures look nothing alike, but she could still recognise it as a lion.

helenmc · 04/01/2003 19:08

proud - have sent 3 bin bags to charity shop and filled half a wheelie bin. (ummm guess what my New Year's resolutions were..heee hee)

Holly02 · 16/01/2003 11:39

Feeling a bit warm and fuzzy about ds at the moment (2.6)... I've been noticing how gentle he is with our pet cat, he'll just sit on the floor next to her, patting her gently and talking to her. She's quite old now and he really tries to be careful with her, which is nice to see. He's also quite affectionate with his little friends and cousins, he often goes up to them and strokes their hair or puts his arm around them to give them a hug. Are all little kids like this?

It's so lovely, I just hope he manages to retain some of this softness once the testosterone kicks in!!

Furball · 17/01/2003 13:29

I had an 'arrr' moment today. We came home from town and I took (17 months) DS' shoes off in the lounge, he then walked back into the hallway opened the cupboard door came back picked up one shoe and put it in the cupboard then came back to get the other one to do the same.

aloha · 17/01/2003 15:23

Found ds (16 months today) at the top of two flights of stairs cackling with manic joy. I'd only popped into the kitchen to make a cup of tea while Teletubbies was on! Considering he never crawled and has only really been walking since Christmas I was very proud, once I'd recovered from the heart attack.

emsiewill · 18/01/2003 19:14

Don't know if this is allowed on this thread, but I am proud of myself, as I did all the things on my "to-do" list (and more) today, meaning that me & dd1 can go shopping for her birthday present tomorrow with a clear conscience.
My normal routine for a Saturday is to spend most of the day messing around, and then spend the last hour rushing around and getting annoyed with myself and everyone else thinking of all the time I've wasted.

ScummyMummy · 18/01/2003 19:38

I think that's definitely allowed, Emsiewill. Well done, you. I had a nice day today too but achieved it by running away from all the things on my to-do list and going out.

Was quite impressed with my 3 yr old son's maths/logic the other day. He said: "Mummy, on our next birthday me and my brother are going to be eight." "Oh really?" I said (in that doubting tone of voice reserved for responding to such dubious tales.) "Yes. I am going to be 4 and he is going to be 4 and 4 and 4 is eight!"

Twink · 18/01/2003 22:54

Brilliant Scummy ! I hope you're glowing with pride at the obvious influence you've had !

That is most impressive Scummy! Ours is still counting in base eleventy-one and shows no sign of being able to add anything together.

jodee · 20/01/2003 18:09

Very proud! Started proper potty training today with ds aged 2 and (nearly) 10 months. I had been dreading it and putting it off, as ds has never said when he's done either a wee or a poo in his nappy. He's been running around bare-bummed all day and apart from 3 accidents has been brilliant! He's even taken himself to the potty without being asked and my jaw dropped to the floor just now when he did a poo in it!
I hope it's not a one off!

susanmt · 21/01/2003 14:35

Despite having chickenpox, my dd (2yrs11months) has gone all week without wearing a night nappy with no wet beds! Hoooooray! (one down, one to go !)

willow2 · 28/01/2003 10:12

Not sure if proud is the right word - moved to tears maybe? Anyway, one of ds' favourite bedtime books is "guess how much I love you" - he has now taken to telling me "I love you to the moon and back....and the clouds" - and yesterday he added "thank you for taking care of me"! Bless, just when you think they've been taken over by Satan they go all sweet on you.

Tinker · 04/02/2003 22:07

My daughter's bedroom was decorated 2 months ago leaving crap and rubbish all over the landing. Tonight........I hoovered! Proud!

lou33 · 04/02/2003 23:33

Proud of myself for finally posting a letter to Tony Blair asking why there is no law preventing disabled people being abused, like there is for religion and racism.

ScummyMummy · 05/02/2003 07:32

That's funny, Tinker! Can you come and do my flat now?

ScummyMummy · 05/02/2003 07:34

And good on you, Lou. Hope he reads and responds...

Janeway · 05/02/2003 09:54

at the weekend, ds (11 months) saw dp bend over and kiss me - ds, who was lying on the bed next to me, jumped straight up and landed a big sloppy smacker of a kiss right on my lips

lou33 - well done - I must say I was surprised that such attrocious behaviour was not included in the DDA.

Nutjob · 05/02/2003 10:45

My ds is going to his friends house for tea tonight, and I was telling him that I'd put my phone number in his book bag in case his friend's mummy needed to contact me etc., and he said 'Mummy you have forgotten to tell me something', so I asked what and he said 'That if I want something I must say please and thank you'. What a little smasher!!

MABS · 05/02/2003 12:32

bl**dy well done Lou -let us know the reply !
