What time do your kids go to bed?

Just wondered what other parents do.

DS aged 7 starts getting ready for bed around 7pm, bath/shower etc. He is usually in bed by or before 7.30pm and has story time, cuddle and song and goes to sleep. Usually all asleep by 8pm. At weekend I let him stay up a little later to watch Dr Who.

Lots of other parents seem to have later bedtimes for their kids. DS hasnt complained about bedtime being 7.30 and goes to bed when asked.

DD1 (19m) goes down about 7/7.30 - straight to sleep but usually wakes 2am ish for milk then awake 6.30

DD2 (3.2) goes to bed 7.30 / 8, often doesn't go to sleep for ages, always awake by 6am, even though last night she didn't go to sleep til after 9. Bet she tries to have a nap later... i'll try to stop her, but she'll manage it somehow.

my girls 3 and 21 months go to bed 7-730 the 21 month gets up at about 6.30-7am 3 year old about 8 if she is woken up by dd2 I get up at 8.30am DH is a morning person I am definately not, we started this routine when they were waking in the night, I am very much a night person and worked permanent night shifts for years so didnt mind getting up to them in the night. Now I dont get up but have a nice lie in grin]

agalch · 19/05/2007 21:18

Dd1 is showered at 6.30 and in bed/story read and ready for sleep by 7/7.15.

dd2 is bathed and has a bf and put down around 7/7.30.

So dh and i do one dd each most of the time.

Ds2 is 11.5 and goes to his room at 8.30/9pm but rarely sleeps before 10pm. Nightmare to wake at 7am for school the next day.

Ds1 is 15.8 and is a bloody pest. He's either sitting downstairs annoying us or in his room playing his guitar making bedtime non existent for him.

So the girls are great and the boys are not.It is an age thing though sadly.

agalch · 19/05/2007 21:19

Oh meant to say dd1 is 2.8 and dd2 is 9 months.

softmusk · 19/05/2007 21:32

dd1 2.7 goes at 6.30pm
dd2 17 months at 6pm
both up about 7,30am to 8am

elasticbandstand · 19/05/2007 22:53

foxcub · 19/05/2007 22:54

On a good school night, DDnearly 4 and DS nearly 7: 7.30pm
On a bad school night: 8.30pm

Fris/Sats: 9.30pm

school hols: 10pm (sometimes even 11pm)

TheGoddessBlossom · 20/05/2007 20:10

DS1 (2.8) 6.30pm
DS2 (9 months) 6-6.15pm.

They both get up at sparrows fart, (any time between 5.30am and 6.15am - sigh) but later bedtimes didn't stop this so we would rather they went to bed early and gave us an evening, than burn the candle at both ends.....

christywhisty · 20/05/2007 20:20

DS 11.5 usually about 9 school night and 9.30 -10 weekend, always been an early riser so never has a problem getting up.

DD 9.5 should go about 8.30 but is a bit of a pain going and it causes problems as big brother seems to think he should go to bed half and hour later than her.

Their bedtime until about last year was always start to get ready at 7 and in bed at 8 until about a year ago.

issyissyissy · 21/05/2007 13:01

Ds who is 3.10 years and DD who is 9 months are both in bed and asleep by 7.30 at the latest. But are up by 6a.m.! Even if we have friends over or are out somewhere, Ds will still go to bed/sleep at the same time regardless of what is happening.

lostinlace · 21/05/2007 13:24

DD (1.6) around 7pm & fast asleep by 7.30pm always. She's always been an angel about going to bed, even if she's had a late nap.

DS (4.6) errm, any time from 7.30pm to around 8.30pm/9.00pm as he's the master of delaying bedtime & needs to get all the bounce out of his system before he goes to sleep.

Does it change (sorry to interrupt the thread) when they go to school? Or am I going to have to become more assertive at enforcing bedtime? (Me?! Assertive? How??)

tinymum · 21/05/2007 13:25

When I'm tired. LOL

Trinityrhino · 21/05/2007 13:27

dd1 (7) 7.30pm
dd2 (2) 7pm
dd3 erm...well err she is only 3 and a half months I know we should be doing something about sorting bedtime.....don't be mean to me

Both boys (10 and almost 8) go to bed at 8pm but are allowed to read. Lights down at 9pm but ds2 is usually asleep before then!!

ipanemagirl · 21/05/2007 13:55

ds (6) in bed by 9!
Would like it to be earlier but he finds it hard to get to sleep much earlier.

kslatts · 21/05/2007 14:11

My dd's (5 and 7) go to bed at 8pm.

dionnelorraine · 21/05/2007 14:16

dd 2 1/2 goes to bed at 7pm. Sometimes she plays up but always in bed by 8pm at the very latest!

porkpie · 21/05/2007 14:40

DS aged 2.3 is always in bed by 8pm, not always asleep though!

mamatres · 21/05/2007 14:59

dd (2.4) and ds2 (4.3) both go to bed at 7pm then ds1 goes up to bed when ds2 is asleep- so usually 8pm as they have bunk beds and if ds2 is still awake ds1 cant get to sleep and they start being naughty.
i have always liked mine to go to bed earlyish, i'd like to have my evenings to me and dh so on the very rare occasion we want to go out we can put them to bed first and any babysitter can just sit around and not try to control them! also, i never found putting them to bed later meant they got up any later. ad they need to be up in the morning so they can go to playschool and school.
tbh they usually want to go to bed and find it hard to stay up much later than this anyway.

princessmel · 21/05/2007 15:01

Ds and dd go to bed at around 7pm. Sometimes a bit before or later. Ds is 4.5 and dd 20m.

They are up early though, 6ish and dd doesn't sleep through. Neither did ds till he was 2.

seamonster · 21/05/2007 18:49

On school days Ds1 (8yrs) around 7-7:30 depending on him,Ds2 (5yrs) 6:30-7 again depending and Dd (17mth) anytime after 6 up until 7. During the weekends and holidays I'll play it buy ear for the boys, although dd is always in bed by 7 but she does still nap in the afternoons.

nickiey · 21/05/2007 18:59

I have 2 boys, ds1 is 5 and ds2 is 7 months.
I take both boys up at 6, ds1 gets into jammies and play in his room while I sort and put to bed ds2,then i put ds1 to bed, both in bed asleep by 6.20
