he's right.

Glad to hear you are home again. Sofa therapy is wonderful!

I became very ill 2 years ago with a really rare neurological condition. I basically got ill with the flu, but as my immune system attacked this virus it also attacked my brain stem.

I was left with no sense of balance, very twitchy/flickery eyes, constant vomitting and uncontrollable shaking.

None of my doctors or consultants knew what was wrong with me until I was transferred to The National hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London. Once there I was diagnosed within about 10 mins, though they had never treated anyone with my condition.

The illness I had only usually occurs in children and I have only found a handful of adults on the internet who also had this illness.

After 8 weeks in hospital and loads of physio while in hospital I have made a full recovery.

Now the point to my great waffling tale is that there are so many conditions and viruses out there that can make people ill which are easily cured once diagnosed. Also I must say that I found the NHS to be fantastic. I couldn't have had better treatment!!

I am sure you will get a diagnosis soon and your little DS will be back to his normal self in no time. Good luck!!

I'm a GP, and I worked in Paediatrics during my training. Where I worked, all the paediatricians had their own speciality, as well as doing "general" paediatrics. There was a neurologist, and Cystic Fibrosis specialist, a diabetes expert etc. Patients were allocated to whoever happened to be on call on the day they were admitted, so it was random. I expect that's what's happened with your DS.

I really hope you get some answers and treatment soon, you must all be going through hell.

All the best.

Just read whole thread. I admire your strength. I dont know how I would cope if something like that happened to my dd. Your ds sounds like a lovely brave little soldier. Isnt it amazing how kids cope with the most traumatic things, better than adults do at times!
Thinking of you all. Stay strong xx

Overrun · 30/03/2007 13:55

Fingers crossed for you Megglevache. I hope all the results come back okay, and your ds gets better soon

paulaplumpbottom · 30/03/2007 14:00

My thoughts are with you and your loittle one, hope he feels better soon.

smoggie · 30/03/2007 14:22

MEggle - I think the way you and your dh are dealing with this is amazing. I can't begin to imagine how worried you have been/are and just pray that they can get to the bottom of it and sort him out asap. Fingers crossed for all of your remaining blood tets and you'll be in my thoughts and prayers. xx

Miaou · 30/03/2007 14:29

Thank you for the update Megg! So glad to hear you feel as if you are getting somewhere. And hats off to your lovely doctor and nursery too

mysterymachine · 30/03/2007 15:55

Keep resting. Thinking of you.

sunnysideup · 30/03/2007 16:52

Pennies · 30/03/2007 17:50

Well here's fingers crossed for the OK on the 4th bloods asap.

I'm glad you're getting a lot of support from all sides.

Will keep watching this thread.

aol · 30/03/2007 17:59

Sounds very positive. And the sofa sounds perfect!

LadyTophamHatt · 30/03/2007 18:16

Blimey Megg, I've just seen thsi.

How scary...Your Ds sounds like a real little trooper though, bless him.

I hope the results come back ok.

xx

margo1974 · 30/03/2007 19:37

Thanks for the update.

Try not to read too much into everything. One of my cousins got nephrotic syndrome, and the drug given to treat him is also given to cancer sufferers. Cue my mum and Aunts besides themselves with worry when they looked it up.

I hope they keep you fully updated and informed

Marina · 30/03/2007 20:07

Good to have an update, you have all been on our minds
Hope you are still on that sofa all taking easy and that ds gets better soon. Best of luck for those results and a tipped hat for your kind and thoughtful GP and nursery

bunnypeculiar · 30/03/2007 20:10

Glad you're all home & comfy - thanks for the update
xx

imaginaryfriend · 30/03/2007 20:37

Great to hear from you. I'm glad you're getting 'time out' and can go on with life 'as normal'. It must be hard having to wait 2 weeks for the test results. I hope they come back with good news for you all.

xxx

Twiga · 30/03/2007 21:08

Thanks for the up-date. Cuddly sofa time sounds fab. Hope the next couple of weeks fly by rather than dragging. Gp and nursery folk sound great, nice to have support form the right places esp if it makes things more normal/easier for your ds. LOL to you all.

Fubsychicksnbunnies · 30/03/2007 21:20

Glad youre getting a chance to chill!

Your Ds's nursery sound great, thats just the sort of support he needs.

All the best x
