Baby walks at 6 months! (News report)

In Telegraph

"In theory, Connie Robinson should have several more months knowing six-month-old Reuben is safe and sound where she leaves him.

Reuben, however, has other ideas and has left his mother nonplussed by getting to his feet and toddling about under his own steam while most babies of the same age are happy to lie back and watch the world go by."

I don't envy his mum!

he was on 'this morning' today

was weird! cute, but weird!!

Hulababy · 06/03/2007 21:41

Earliest I have actually known is Katz DD, who looked so tiny walking at 8.5 months. 6 months is really early isn't it?

A friend's baby used to stand up and walk round the furniture at 6 months - even that looked weird. But she didn't walk unsupported till 8.5 months.

Mine were both 14 months, thank God!!

geekgrrl · 06/03/2007 21:44

crikey, that must be a very cute sight

Hulababy · 06/03/2007 21:46

fortyplus - DD cruised with furniture and hands at 5 months. Have a very cute video at a friend's parents house of her dancing like it And looked weeny. But she didn't pluck up the courage to let go and walk till 10 months.

The pictures don't really show just how little he really is I bet!

A friend of mine had 2 kids both of whom were walking by 9 months. But 6 months - crikey! Rather her than me

kittylette · 06/03/2007 21:47

here

soph28 · 06/03/2007 21:48

that is so strange! my 8mo dd can't sit on her own for more than a minute and she doesn't roll. Can't imagine her crawling let alone walking!!

sandyballs · 06/03/2007 21:54

Blimey, thought one of mine was early at 11 months, can't imagine it at six.

clairemow · 06/03/2007 21:56

OMG, my DS2 is 6 months, he's just about mastered rolling from his tummy to his back... DS1 walked at 11 months, thought that was quite early.

fortyplus · 06/03/2007 21:57

Hulababy at cruising at 5 months! 6 months seemed bizarre to me at the time. Naturally I thought that ds1 had some rare genetic muscle wasting disease because he didn't get off their bums till 14 months! By the time ds2 came along I knew enough just to be grateful!

imaginaryfriend · 06/03/2007 21:58

That's nothing. My dd was walking and talking at 3 months.

ha ha!! Well, my (imaginary) DS3 can walk, talk and is potty trained at 3 weeks!!

Hulababy · 06/03/2007 21:59

6 months is incredible though - can you imagine how hard it will be for his mum, chasing around after him at that age? I bet she thought she at least had 3 or 4 months minimum before she'd have to worry about that!

Busybean · 06/03/2007 22:00

He looks massive for 6m imo

fortyplus · 06/03/2007 22:01

Mine didn't walk till 14 months but took 7 GCSEs when they were 3

clairemow · 06/03/2007 22:01

Also imagine how long she's got until he develops any kind of sense about what he's doing/touching/licking/putting in his mouth etc. etc. A late walker has big advantages
!!

imaginaryfriend · 06/03/2007 22:01

... I once heard my dd singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star while still in my womb ...

clairemow · 06/03/2007 22:01

DS3 composed a symphony before he was even conceived.

J20BABY · 06/03/2007 22:01

OMG! he looks very big for 6 months doesn't he?!

imaginaryfriend · 06/03/2007 22:02

fortyplus, I just mixed up your name with your post and thought it read:

'well mine didn't walk til fortyplus'

I did a double-take and sighed a huge sigh of relief.

imaginaryfriend · 06/03/2007 22:03

Dd translated the bible before I was even conceived.

SHOSHAlee · 06/03/2007 22:09

Ds walked at 8 months and a week it was awful!!!! He got into everything

fortyplus · 06/03/2007 22:11

imaginaryfriend - I am very old but fortunately my two aren't in their forties just yet!
