6yo boys - what do they play with in winter?

Ds1 has been outdoors since March (well after school - I let him in for tea, homework and bed). I'm clearly being an unfair mum as I'm not terribly keen to be indoors. He will play with Hot Wheels, and I've introduced him to the Book of Cool DVD so he is learning various tricks, but what indoor things do (presumably fairly active ants in pants) boys do? In particular what do they do with other boys on playdates etc. At present I'm organising cookery classes once a week, but I need some new ideas.

Mine have a stopwatch and invent endless (hugely competitive) challenges for each other.
How fast can you run up to the bedroom and back down? How long can you stand on one leg? Etc Etc

Timely then. Ds1 wants this one for Christmas.

Cod the Book of Cool is a DVD, well a set of 3 DVDs in fact (and book) which show you how to do various tricks - football, card and magic, juggling, rope tricks, gun tricks etc. It kept ds1 nicely occupied yesterday afternoon.

Lots of imaginative stuff, den building\etc.

Mini trampoline/ space hopper races.

table football / cards / jigsaws / board games (esp. ludo) / admiring and rearranging pokemon collection / after school swimming / craft projects..... etc (my dss's now 9 and 7)

Spies is a good game - ds creeps around the house spying on me and dd and making notes about what we are doing. Aim is for us not to see him.

When do they get the hang of losing? At present any form of game only lasts until ds1 thinks that he is going to lose... We used to play draughts where I used to play until he started to huff and would then turn the board around and we woud swap sides (made it a bit more interesting for me too). But I hadn't bothered with games as he usually explodes in the first 5 minutes.

DS plays with all sorts although he is quite fickle and goes through phases. Currently we are on a phase of cars, sticker books and bouncy balls (only allowed on the hall). We have other phases of lego, knights, dot to dots, beyblades, power rangers etc.

Today he has:
played with cars
played with bouncy ball with DD
played football in the garden
played on his bike on the street (with me wondering around pushing DD on trike)
played car dominoes with DH and DD
done a number sticker/colouring book

do you ration their screen time? i go in phases. no hard and fast rule but occassionally have complete crackdown when it seems they're always staring at a screen and grunting....
computer games like age of empires / zoo tycoon v popular here ladymuck.

We're obviously slow on the PC front. Ds1 has only used it to practise numberbonds. He did enjoy lemmings on dh's PSP, but the PSP tends to be out of the house during the week. Very cute though - when he first played it he was devasted when some of the lemmings died. What games do your ds's play?

well its kind of novel as ds3 has discovered how to clock so is OVER the top wiht it( cbeeies and poisson rouge)
the other tow played rugby alll morning ( till 1pm) so i did feel they codul do suammt elese
I ration tv but thent hey move on to ds lite

they do share one between the threeof them though
