6yo boys - what do they play with in winter?

Ds1 has been outdoors since March (well after school - I let him in for tea, homework and bed). I'm clearly being an unfair mum as I'm not terribly keen to be indoors. He will play with Hot Wheels, and I've introduced him to the Book of Cool DVD so he is learning various tricks, but what indoor things do (presumably fairly active ants in pants) boys do? In particular what do they do with other boys on playdates etc. At present I'm organising cookery classes once a week, but I need some new ideas.

30 mins every other day.

LARKS! NO!

OK - that was spooky - controlfreaky answered my question before I'd posted it.

Do they need lots of adult help with the games. Ds1 is an OK reader.

Don't you like the rationing idea cod?

We started it when ds wanted to do nothing but be on the computer and was nagging to go on it all the time.

Not a problem now - he knows when it's his computer day and he can have his 30 mins in a block or in two sessions.

TheHighwayCod · 12/11/2006 22:30

id do maybe one hour a day after school and so on

puddle · 12/11/2006 22:32

He's only 6 though. I don't want him spending loads of time in front of screens - whether compuer or tv.

LadyMuck · 12/11/2006 22:35

Thanks for the ideas. Yes, we've been out in the garden most of the year too, but it is starting to get dark by 4:30. Have to say that our outdoor trampoline has been very well used this year!

Mine likes:

Lego
Playmobil (battles with knights and vikings)
PS2 - lego starwars game
Drawing - battles with lots of explosions (we have nearly run out of orange colouring pencils)
Keepieupie in the garden
Cooking
Spent all afternoon listening to one of those horrible history CDs that were free with one of the Sunday papers.
History quizzes.
Playing pretend football across the floors with anything that happens to be on the floor and it drives me to flipping distraction!

robinpud · 12/11/2006 22:39

Well DS decided to take his friend and little sister out into the garden to play lightsabres/football tonight in the semi darkness (was about 4.45). So outside play not totally unfeasible - although I did have to scrape the mud out of the grips of his trainers/her shoes with a screwdriver.
