How old was your dc when they started crawling?

I'm just wondering if it might be imminent for DS.

He's 6.1 mo and can pretty much get where he wants to go by rolling and dragging himself. But he's getting quite frustrated as it's quite an effort for him. He's relatively easy to contain at the moment as I can catch him before he gets too far.

How long did it take your dc to go from doing this to actual proper crawling? And what age were they?

I just need to know when to step it up with the baby proofing Grin

DS started crawling at 7 months and then walked at 10 months, he was rolling pretty well by 6 months also so it could be quite quick for your LO!

trying to remember, it's so long ago. I know one of them walked just before their first birthday and the other walked just after (but to further demonstrate what a shit mother I am I can never remember which was which Grin ) I know that they weren't crawling for long beforehand, maybe a couple of months, so about 9 or 10 months ish? because everyone was always going on about how early their kids crawled and I was starting to think there was something up with mine Grin My eldest didn't crawl at all though, he was a bum shuffler, soooo cute Grin

Eminybob · 20/01/2015 19:23

Oh and what I would also be interested to know is if you had an early crawler, did they also have teeth early? My friend is convinced the 2 are linked but I'm not so sure.

Dc 1 and 2 were 8 months old, dc3 was combat crawling at 6 months and proper crawling at 7 months.

freelancegirl · 20/01/2015 19:24

Crawling 10 months, walking 13 months. Very average with all milestones.

fredfredgeorgejnr · 20/01/2015 19:25

DD never did any sort of moving before crawling, and crawled after 9mo but barely did it, was walking by 10mo.

Not much baby proofing done btw.

HowCanIMissYouIfYouWontGoAway · 20/01/2015 19:28

mine weren't early crawlers (see above) but they did teeth early (my poor nipples ) each cut their first teeth by the time they were 3 months old! Not talking full set of gnashers or anything Grin just a couple starting to poke through.

McFox · 20/01/2015 19:28

My DS started the week before christmas when he was 6 months and 1 week. He's really fast and is pulling himself up on everything already, arrghhh!

He's definitely teething but there's nothing cutting through yet so I don't know if there's a link.

deadwitchproject · 20/01/2015 19:29

DT1 crawling at 11 months, walking at 14.5 months
DT2 crawling at 9 months, walking at 12.5 months

McFox · 20/01/2015 19:30

Sorry posted too soon. He was rocking back and forwards and getting really frustrated for a couple if weeks before he actually crawled. I wish I'd baby proofed then!

DD didn't progress to crawling until 8 months but a friends baby just started crawling at 4.5 months!

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 20/01/2015 19:40

Oh and DD teethed really early (4 months) but crawled fairly late.

tomandizzymum · 20/01/2015 19:44

DS1 crawling 6 months, walking 11 months, first tooth 10 months
DD crawling 7 months, walking 11 months, first tooth 7 months
DS2 crawling 7 months, walking 14 months, first tooth 12 months
DS3 crawling 6 months, walking 10 months, first tooth 11 months.

So I'd say, not related.

BertieBotts · 20/01/2015 19:47

8 months (surprised to hear so many earlier, as he and one other were the first in our NCT group). First tooth just before 6 months. Didn't walk until 16 months Hmm

BertieBotts · 20/01/2015 19:48

Oh OK not so many early crawlers then just the couple of posts before mine Grin

GlitzAndGigglesx · 20/01/2015 19:49

Dd started crawling at 7m but it took another 10 months for her to walk unaided!

GlitzAndGigglesx · 20/01/2015 19:50

She got her first tooth coming through at 3m so defo not related!

Thatsnotmypiglet · 20/01/2015 19:52

Crawling properly - 7.5 months
Walking properly - week before 1st birthday

Eminybob · 20/01/2015 19:52

Ha yes I'd definitely say there doesn't seem to be a link with the tooth thing.

Interesting to know about all your babies though. I know it's so random when they start doing this sort of stuff but all the babies I know in real life didn't start crawling until 9-10 months so I wasn't prepared for DS to be this active this soon!

wigglylines · 20/01/2015 19:58

DS: about 10 months
DD: 5.5 months

Both walked about 12 months. DD crawled very early but didn't go on to early walking, she was happy walking I think. She mastered climbing before walking, that was scary!

bruffin · 20/01/2015 20:12

Ds never crawled properly and walked at 10 months. Dragged himself around from 8 months.
DD crawled at 9 months and walked at 13 months

MiaSparrow · 20/01/2015 20:48

Would I be right in thinking the early crawlers tend to be on the smaller (therefore zipper) side? DD would certainly fall into this category - 9th/25th centile and was crawling at six months, first steps at ten.

MiaSparrow · 20/01/2015 20:49

*zippier

Radish9 · 20/01/2015 20:58

My second child was smaller and lighter than my first, and crawled a lot earlier ( 5 months vs 7 months). However, they walked at the same time (10 months). The littler one did seem to find it easier to get about.
