2nd dry night for ds 7.4. Is this it?!

Ds has had very few dry nights in his life, and even fewer of these have been in a row.

At 5 he had his HUGE (surgeon said biggest he'd seen) tonsils and adenoids removed due to sleep apnea.
Dr had mentioned that his brain was so concerned about keeping him breathing, it didn't care if he wee'd but that this would likely resolve itself after surgery.
It did, for 3 nights.

Fast forward a couple of years solid of brick-heavy pants every morning (and occasional wet beds too despite pants), we are on our second morning in a row of bone dry pants.

I don't want to be too outwardly excited at home in front of ds as he can't control it, so I want to be excited here please!

Could this be it, or just a lucky streak?

Thank you mychildren. Mil had such a bugbear about potty training. Would not stop going on about it and I can see it going the same way with night training even though I have explained its hormonal. "Oh just put him in pants he'll soon get it" "can you just try him in pants?" No bugger off and mind your own! It's her only flaw otherwise she is lovely.

Quiet do you think she would have a read of the ERIC website?

My own dm couldn't understand why we didn't just lift ds every night until I printed some info off.

Thank you! I don't want to say it too loudly lest the God of overpriced drynites hears me and releases his wrath down upon us! Wink

:D

Well if it offers any hope we are on #9 in a row and of the last 16 only 1 was wet.

Quiet high five. ;)

I spoke too soon. A wake up call at 2am because his bed was wet. Is it weird though that still makes me happy? It is actually waking him up and half the problem is that he is a very heavy sleeper. Previously he would just sleep right through and not wake up till the morning.

Whereisegg · 16/06/2014 08:22

No, I know exactly what you mean!
It will all slot together very soon and all this will be a distant memory.

Ds managed to eat breakfast and chat before he needed a wee, so I'm hopeful his bladder is stretching nicely.

That is just the thread I was looking for. My dgs is 7.7 and was dry as long as dsil lifted him at midnight but as soon as they stopped on medical advice he began wetting about 4 nights out of 7. They have seen a specialist and been told it is a matter of training his bladder and they are being given one of those buzzer pads. Poor lad is quite bothered by it because his 5 year old brother has never wet the bed once since he was trained at 2. I am going back to read the whole thread now.

mychildrenarebarmy · 17/06/2014 16:54

thegreylady It's heartbreaking seeing them so upset and stressed by it. DS said he felt like he was an idiot and that he was stupid. :( I did point out to him that he doesn't tell anyone which means there is a high chance that some of his friends have the same problem but also don't tell anyone either.

Whereisegg · 17/06/2014 19:25

thegreylady I hope you find some comfort and advice in this thread Sad

Well...

As agreed with ds, he went to bed pant and alarm less last night after a week of dry pants.
He has been off with a bad ear infection (drs yesterday, ABs prescribed, and needing regular meds for temp spikes), so I wasn't too hopeful.

He went to bed early as was awake in pain the previous night, and slept for 13.5 hrs with a brief wake up for calpol but no toilet visit.

He was dry this morning Smile

Yay for your DS. I hope he feels better soon.

Another dry night and back to school too Smile

Fabulous. Dry here too. I don't have high hopes for tonight because we have been in London all day, followed by swimming lessons so I think the sleep may be long and deep tonight.

Whereisegg · 19/06/2014 23:25

No high hopes here either, ds sent home from school despite my middle of the day trek in to give him meds Sad

You never know though, fingets crossed for you! Smile

I was woken up at 5am to help change a wet bed. I don't know if he woke up when he wet or later on but he did wake up so hmm, it's sort of good.

Whereisegg · 20/06/2014 09:02

Not weeing til 5am is still a huge amount of hours to go dry, and waking up is brilliant!
All the pieces are coming together Smile
