2nd dry night for ds 7.4. Is this it?!

Ds has had very few dry nights in his life, and even fewer of these have been in a row.

At 5 he had his HUGE (surgeon said biggest he'd seen) tonsils and adenoids removed due to sleep apnea.
Dr had mentioned that his brain was so concerned about keeping him breathing, it didn't care if he wee'd but that this would likely resolve itself after surgery.
It did, for 3 nights.

Fast forward a couple of years solid of brick-heavy pants every morning (and occasional wet beds too despite pants), we are on our second morning in a row of bone dry pants.

I don't want to be too outwardly excited at home in front of ds as he can't control it, so I want to be excited here please!

Could this be it, or just a lucky streak?

They're easy to get from Amazon - the Wet Stop 3 has worked for us, both initially and now (tentative optimism) after a relapse. Its results were spectacular for Egg's DS.

Make a cup of tea and settle down to read the nail biter that is our thread! More soggy duvets and abandoned Drynites than you could ever wish for - but a lot fewer now. Smile

My DS has just turned 8.

I'm not on commission; honest. Wink

trixymalixy · 04/11/2014 22:38

Ooh, all the alarms I had seen were £100+. Is it the one that's about £35? I might give that a go, thanks.

Lemonsole · 04/11/2014 22:42

Yes, that's the one. Ours is bright green. Hard to lose in the duvet.

Lemonsole · 04/11/2014 22:45

Shrieks loudly enough to wake the dead. You'll learn just how deeply a 7-year old can sleep...

Egg and I have described our experiences with it up thread, and there will be plenty of tips to glean from our journeys - but do keep asking Grin

Whereisegg · 05/11/2014 07:11

Our fun with the alarm involved (now) dh clipping the sensor to the outside of the waterproof pants.
Good times Grin

I still look for a 'like' button.

That moment was a genuine lol for me on Mumsnet. Grin

I just can't understand what he was thinking Grin

Still going well here too. Dry every night since I last posted. It's over 2 weeks dry now. Am starting to take it a little bit for granted now so he must be doing well :-)
Fingers crossed it continues!!!

Lemonsole · 05/11/2014 18:19

And so our parallel lives continue, Hellokittycat. Grin

Hello all
Well we had a pretty bad weekend, wet nights (twice one night which she hasn't done for a very long time :( ) plus she was fibbing about how wet she was and had quickly removed the nics before I got into the bathroom. BUT still nothing on bed thankfully.

She has had two dry nights now - Monday night she woke at about 6.00am and last night she slept all the way through :)

I think I am going to have to ask for a replacement alarm though as even with the monitor on I am not hearing it most of the time, it is so much quieter than when we first bought it, and you know how loud it can be!

Lemonsole · 05/11/2014 22:05

Onwards and upwards, Augustrose. I hope that they do replace your alarm for you. It's so frustrating when progress is held up by the very tools that are supposed to be helping.

I know that I have actually cried a bit on nights when the alarm fell off or became disconnected, and he woke up wet in the morning.

Whereisegg · 08/11/2014 10:12

Hope you are all having dry nights Thanks Smile

Just cleared out the airing cupboard.
2 packs of pants and a pack of bed pants in there, I can't quite bring myself to get rid of them...

Still fine here Grin

This time I'm definitely not getting rid of the Drynites until he's, ooh, about 15, should be OK. Shock

mychildrenarebarmy · 09/11/2014 08:39

Still up and down here. I internally swing between "Meh, it will happen when it happens" and "Will this ever end?!"

Whereisegg · 09/11/2014 09:08

Bed pads not pants.
I'm scared that getting rid of them will alert the dry-nite gods to my lack of respect Grin

Morning, we are claiming 6 dry nights! Although Thursday she woke up at 11pm with the alarm but did sleep from then until 7 the next morning so that's a dry night right :)

Mychildren that's exactly how I feel most of the time.

I think there'll be bed pads/pants in our house for a while - youngest DS is 4 in Feb and he is still showing now signs of being dry at night either. I just find it odd that my older two were dry at night by 3 yet the younger two are the opposite.

Lemonsole · 09/11/2014 14:37

Six - yay!!! Waking with the alarm is great; particularly when there is some left for the loo.

It's so draining when it doesn't happen. I find it so hard to be "meh" when well-intentioned smuggies try to tell me that he's just lazy. Good to vent and to share.

Lemonsole · 09/11/2014 14:38

... Our night pants section in the wardrobe could almost be confused with an altar to the Dry Duvet and Rested Mother gods.

doradoo · 11/11/2014 17:02

have been stalking this thread.....

DS1 (10.2) has now (fingers crossed / touch wood / stroke rabbits foot) gone 8 nights dry in a row - a first here......

He never woke when wet - good in a way as no disrupted sleep - but not pleasant for anyone

He was always dry when on sleep overs / trips - so much so he would refuse to wear drynites provided..... Hmm

FOr the past week we've really upped the fluids - explaining we're doing 'bladder training' - in the day and so far things seem to be going well. Lots of praise for him.

I had the same problem till I was early teens so we'd never followed it up with the doc as I knew it was most likely hereditary and that until the hormone is produced not much can be done.

Good luck to everyone on here - I'm sure we wont be out of the woods yet - in fact I'm scared to post this and tempt fate.... but thought I'd join the gang so to speak Smile

Whereisegg · 11/11/2014 18:59

Hello, Doradoo!

Anyone else out there?

Still dry here. Contemplating dumping the wires in the wardrobe very soon, yikes.
