Mine is 16 months and still not walking...he does weight bare, he cruises and pulls himself up but when it comes to walking he doesn't comply.

My DH and I have tried walking with him, in the park, in the shopping centre, in the garden.....but he wont

My oldest son walked at 11 months......the HV said its fine, that he will walk in his own time but when I come across parents who kids are doing cartwheels and running round and they are younger than my DS both DH and me feel like we are doing something very wrong :(

I agree entirely with your health visitor (which is more than I ever did with ours!), as ling as you don t feel there is any other issue it'll happen when he's ready. He's doing everything else in terms of getting ready.

I'd recommend you enjoy things before the walking begins, I well remember being a nervous wreck chasing DS around!

Sort for the typos. I blame the iPhone...

HSMMaCM · 18/04/2014 14:32

DD walked at 8 months, her best friend walked at 24 months. 15 yrs later you wouldn't know.

Flexiblefriend · 18/04/2014 14:36

DD walked at 13 months, DH apparently didn't walk until he was 20+ months though. Yours sounds like he is just taking his time building up the confidence to let go and do it on his own. I know it is difficult not to worry, but there does seem to be a massive variation when it comes to what age babies walk. He will get there eventually, and it won't make the slightest bit of difference to him later in life!

My dd was 10 months which was early compared to other kids her age. However, now at 20 months most kids have caught up and walk/run as well she does.

neversleepagain · 18/04/2014 21:02

DT1 - 16 months (14 corrected)
DT2 - 14 months (12 corrected)

I am surprised, I expected them to both walk later as they only crawled at 12 months.

Bowlersarm · 18/04/2014 21:07

Worry you not.

DS1 at 16 months (professional sportsman now at aged 18)
Ds2 at 14 months (non sporty lazy boy at 16)
Ds3 at 9 months (non sporty lazy boy at 14)

2tired2bewitty · 18/04/2014 21:12

Dd walked at 22 months with very little in the way of cruising etc first. She didn't crawl till 15 months either. She was subsequently diagnosed with mild hypermobility syndrome, but you'd not spot much difference between her and any other 4 year old now

DownstairsMixUp · 18/04/2014 21:16

I agree, don't worry, kids are all so different. DS didn't walk till 16 months and I was worried loads. Have learned to mellow out now. :)

Mignonette · 18/04/2014 21:22

Mine were both walking at 8 months and could run by a year.

It makes absolutely no difference and is no indication of intelligence.

It'll happen.... s[mile]

buttercrumble · 18/04/2014 21:24

Dd twins both at 14 months

TheBookofRuth · 18/04/2014 21:24

22 months. She couldn't stand unsupported till 20 months. Nothing physically or physiologically, it just took her a while. She has good fine motor skills though, and said her first word at 8 months.

PJ67 · 18/04/2014 23:16

My youngest son walked at 19 months. He wasn't interested at all and couldn't even walk holding your hand then I went to work one day leaving him with my parents and when I got back he was walking round the house like he had been doing it for months! We really couldn't believe it. I'm sure you will find that when he decides to do it he will be very confident. I'm sure there's nothing to worry about.
My oldest son walked at 12 months and my middle one was 16 months. The oldest and youngest were bum shufflers and the middle one crawled.

McIngOutTheEasterBunny · 18/04/2014 23:19

Dd 11 months

A friends dd, didn't take her first wobbly steps until she was 16 months.

Ferguson · 19/04/2014 22:51

Our DS was quite tall for his age, and didn't walk till he was 18 months. He waited until he could do it properly, and he didn't go through a 'falling down' stage.

TheSkua · 20/04/2014 03:16

8mnths and 13mnths.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/04/2014 06:48

Don't worry. If he can cruise and pull up he will walk.

It doesn't matter when, honestly.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/04/2014 06:50

My DD was exactly 2. She is obviously floppy with motor delay.

But still she runs about now.

Enjoy your DS, he will walk before you know it

unintentionalthreadkiller · 20/04/2014 11:56

DTs walked at 18 months, and only when bribed with an iPhone to reach for, think they were quite lazy!

pumpkinsweetie · 20/04/2014 11:59

DD1-15m
DD2-14m
DD3-14m
DD4-23m

anja1cam · 20/04/2014 12:09

Posted this before but here goes: 18m+ or so. Never rolled over, never crawled or pulled up, but bum shuffled everywhere at great speed. Then got up, started cruising and walked across the room inside a couple of weeks. I was never really worried, never pushed it either, just a bit fed up Easter Smile. Second child was quite different, did crawl and walk at a more 'average' timing. Both wore cloth nappies at all times.

LyndaCartersBigPants · 20/04/2014 12:13

Ds1 12 months
Ds2 15 months
Dd 10 months

aprilanne · 20/04/2014 12:14

my eldest and youngest sons walked before a year .but my middle boy was 23 months .but he could have a great conversation .used to talk and demand things while just sitting on his lazy bum .don,t worry everyone is diffrent .when he is in to everything you will be praying for him to sit down for 5 minutes

306235388 · 20/04/2014 12:16

Ds and dd both walked at 10 months. They're 7 and 3.5 now and they are no different to any kids who walked later.
