My DD is 2 and a half months and I was chatting to a friend about what words to use to describe boys and girls bits??

A friend uses 'nunu' for girls. For some bizaare reason I have started to say 'bits and pieces'!! thats sooo wrong, any suggestions or do you just say fanny??

Yeah i see the problem if its not a nice word where you live. Here is Sunny Surrey it's just a word, same as willy

CarolinaMoon · 22/08/2006 22:05

ROFL @ "gash" senora

FrannyandZooey · 22/08/2006 22:19

Vulva is a good word

fanny is ok but to some people it is rather rude, so I wouldn't want it said outside the house

we say vulva

or rather ds says "valva" which sounds quite sweet

happyhippy · 22/08/2006 22:25

MY DD CALLS IT HER DO DO

haven't had to deal with this yet as we only have willies in this house
I think I would want to use fanny, as vulva sounds a bit too ........ something for me but not really sure what.
Good point about the vagina not being the actual correct term though - I shall bear that in mind for future reference!

StinkyPete · 22/08/2006 22:30

we've hummed and harred too long and it's already become twinkle, which i'm sooo not sure about. brings a whole new meaning to twinkle twinkle little star. but it's kind of stuck in this house

laundrylover · 22/08/2006 22:42

We are a house of fannies and DD1 said it to the doctor last week!
My friend says vulva but her DP and us can only say volvo.
at 'gash'! You may aswell go the whole hog and call it an axe wound.

pointydog · 22/08/2006 22:49

Pum pum. After ridiculous debates. They know the terms vagina and fanny too.

Fanjo is a great word, though.

Twohoots · 22/08/2006 22:54

I was brought up that it was a 'toush' or a 'toushie' (pronounced tooshee). That's what we'll call it to our DD.

magicfarawaytree · 22/08/2006 22:55

we call it a minnie.

Heathcliffscathy · 22/08/2006 22:59

where is harpsichord carrier?

Piffle · 22/08/2006 23:01

dd is nearly 4 and we just call them " her bits"
she knows the name penis and vagina as well but we still call them bits colloquially...
if we digress into euphemism in this house we tend to use minge but not in front of dd, it would just sound so... wrong out of her angelic mouth!

BrookeandTaylorsmummy · 22/08/2006 23:07

My sister calls it a wanny so I might use that when dd is old enough, I've also heard the term flange, sounds a bit horrible to me!

fluffymum · 22/08/2006 23:18

very amusing thread. Fanny and willy in my house...is it really rude to say Fanny? Never knew that!

Bits n pieces sounds great and made me laugh but may be a bit evasive? Mind you so is fanny and willy. Infact you've made me think there, my poor ds 2:11 doesn't even know the word penis. I shall tell him tomorrow!

Minnie Minge? not sure!

whoopsfallenoveragain · 23/08/2006 22:18

someone I work with calls it a foo foo!

hunkermunker · 23/08/2006 22:22

I'm going to use imminy-pimminy-cutie-fluff-glitter-dust-sparkle-petal, I think.

FGS.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 23/08/2006 23:35

dd uses pinky and its widgy for boys.Couldnt use proper names but them could not call balls, balls but would use testicles.
odd

colditz · 23/08/2006 23:40

Winky for boys, I did use 'bits' for my genitals (only have sons) but have since been informed by ds1 that "Daddies have winkies and mummies have hair"

colditz · 23/08/2006 23:41

I had never even heard the word Vagina until I was 10, and I was born in the 80s, not the 50's!

pointydog · 23/08/2006 23:41

Dd1 (10) gets sex ed at school this year and asked today how she should refer to female and male genetalia in class (my words, not hers!) as she knows no one else talks about a pum pum and I think she thought willy and fanny would be rude!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 23/08/2006 23:53

LOL HUnker...

Adorabelle · 24/08/2006 00:12

We use 'fairy', cos that is what my mum used with
me.

Not sure when I actually knew it was really called a vagina, but i did end up knowing it was
a vagina (bout 6yrs old) & in my opinion fairy was a good enough name for it until then.
Still prefer fairy now (No I do not have any sexual hang up!)

Me and my 5 sisters all grew up calling it a tinkle.
My 2 brothers had willies.

Thats what my children know theirs as.
