I cant cope with cleaning shit off my walls anymore

I have twins, they are 2. For the past 6 months at least once a day 1 of them will take their nappy off and they will have a great time spreading shit everywhere. Today its been 3 times and they have started spreading it all over their hair. I cant deal with it anymore. Nothing i do is stopping it. I dont know what to do

Potty train?

GnocchiNineDoors · 15/08/2012 21:23

Ah xpost

MissPricklePants · 15/08/2012 21:24

Potty train? My dd dis this a few times generally at 5am in the morn so I put her sleep suit on back to front so she couldn't unfasten it to get her nappy off!

Chubfuddler · 15/08/2012 21:24

How can they get their nappies off? Don't they have vests on?

Sluttybuttons · 15/08/2012 21:25

I have put sleepsuits on backwards with vests over the top, nothing is working. I have tried to potty train but they are only 2 and its just not happening

I third potty training.

Sluttybuttons · 15/08/2012 21:26

They can easily get vests off

Potty train - just for poos. Rewards for poos in potty and not on the wall etc.
I do sympathise though - sounds awful, but my eldest DD was potty trained for poo by the time her sister was born - she was 20 myths, so it is possible.

They are now in beds because i thought it would help. They have lots of toys. Sometimes it happens before naps sometimes after and they have both just done it tonight when i thought they were asleep.

Yeah it is possible just a few days of hard work and then no more shit on the walls.

kilmuir · 15/08/2012 21:45

Where are you when they are managing to do it 3 times in one day?
Get the potty out if it seems to be happening at certain times of the day

Sluttybuttons · 15/08/2012 21:46

Ive had months of hard work and ive been trying to potty train for ages its not working. They are just not ready to be potty trained but thanks all for the advice, looks like i just need to get on with it. Not like i have any other option

Kilmuir in their room either before or after naps or at night when they should be asleep. There is 2 of them and between them i have to deal with 5 or 6 dirty nappies a day.

Gaffa tape? Wrapped round top of nappy so they can't undo the tabs?

Sluttybuttons · 15/08/2012 21:52

Ive considered it. Been told it would be cruel but think it might be my only option

peeriebear · 15/08/2012 21:53

Big old fashioned nappy pins so they can't undo the vests? Thick tape ie duct tape right round waist so nappy can't be removed? You'd have to snip nappy at change time but no big deal.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 15/08/2012 21:54

Why is Gaffa tape cruel? It's not like you are putting it round their mouths. Definitely potty train them, they are not too young, my dd was trained at 20 months and ds at 2.

MaryPoppinsBag · 15/08/2012 21:55

Are they doing it for a reaction from you?
Are they only just 2 or nearer 3?

5madthings · 15/08/2012 21:56

i would tape over the tabs of the nappy, parcel tape that brown tape might work?

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 15/08/2012 21:57

Second tape!!! And time out when they do it!!

JarethTheGoblinKing · 15/08/2012 21:58

Lordy.. I'd have gaffa-taped them months ago. Not cruel - you'll be able to get it off, they won't.

Meglet · 15/08/2012 21:58

I wouldn't potty train them just now. I assume that if they are happy spreading it everywhere they'd just stick their hands in their potty. Although if you can get them to poo on the toilet (choc buttons for bribery?) it might at least get the poo out of reach!

FWIW I remember my friends DS used to spread poo everywhere, I think it might have been when he was potty trained, and I know it drove her up the wall. It was just a phase.

IDismyname · 15/08/2012 21:59

Slutty - you may be right - there is a "brain to botty" connection to take place before potty training can begin, and maybe your two aren't ready.

How do you react to the poo painting? Do they get a reaction from you? I'm wondering if its an attention seeking ploy....

Gaffa tape a good idea. Have you asked your HV? She may have some ideas.

Good Luck. It sounds terrible - poor you.
