I am not really worried yet, but I would just like to know how common it is. Most babies of a similar age I have come across seem to have at least 2 teeth by now.

How late did everyone's LO get their first teeth?

my DS (now 26m) had none till nearly 11m! Then the top 2 and bottom 2 came overnight all together, was quite funny. Then none till 14m... I tihnk he has them all except possibly 1 back one now :) He was the latest of the babies I know!

DS1 was 10 months nearly 11 before getting his first tooth. they all then came through without issue. I've read somewhere that when they start teething late it will be done with very quickly and that was certainly the case with DS1.

DS2 got his first tooth at just gone 5 months. I didn't beleive it at first and though he'd gone some sort of foreign object in his mouth and was trying to fish i t out with my fingers!!

my niece was about 13/14 months before she got her first teeth. She is now 12 and still has a few of her baby teeth left as they are not falling out very quickly either

Pandam · 23/01/2012 18:28

I was 13 months before getting my tooth (as was my dd). Nowt to worry about. I started walking at 9 months... so was charging about with long hair and no teeth for some time apparently.

Pandam · 23/01/2012 18:29

my FIRST tooth.

Janoschi · 23/01/2012 18:32

DD has no teeth and she's 8.5 months.... but poor sod has been teething since 3 months so it's not been fun. Our neighbour below has a 12 month old daughter with no teeth either. Apparently it's not a bad thing - the later the teeth, the larger the jaw that accommodates them, also the easier they are to clean.

Just wanted to add DS has no teeth and he's 13 months tomorrow!

Wigeon · 23/01/2012 18:48

DD1- 8 months

DD2 - currently 8 months and no sign of teeth at all.

Don't think it's that unusual not to have teeth at 9 months.

BikeRunSki · 23/01/2012 18:50

Ds got his first tooth a wee before his first birthday, then they all came in batches of two or three ? or seven at one point.

browneyesblue · 23/01/2012 18:53

DS got his first tooth a few days before his first birthday. He has 2 little friends around the same age, and they also got their first teeth about the same time. Very common to not have teeth by 9 months, I'm sure.

cockle84 · 23/01/2012 18:55

my nearly 10month old is just cutting her first, can feel it but can barely see. Neither of my nieces got theirs before they were 1

Rikalaily · 23/01/2012 19:00

Two of my four didn't get any until they were 1, it's great when they start getting them so old, they all come through really quick with a minimum of teething.

dixiechick1975 · 23/01/2012 19:03

DD was 9 months. She is the first in her class to lose a front tooth though.

Apparently I walked before I had a tooth.

Elsjas · 23/01/2012 19:14

My dd was 13 months when she got her first tooth. All her first birthday party pictures show a huge gummy smile.
I didn't get my first tooth until I was 15 months - my Mum took me to the doctor who told her that he had never yet seen a child without teeth!

SearchSquad · 23/01/2012 19:16

DS - 12 months.

podgymum · 23/01/2012 19:26

My DS2 has got 9 teeth and is just turning 9 months, my DS1 didn't have any until he was nearly 1.

LucyFarinelli · 23/01/2012 19:41

DS had none until 13 months. Now only has 7 at 21 months.

BlackSwan · 23/01/2012 20:20

Mine had his first at 11 months. And drooled from 3rd month until at least 18months.

mejon · 23/01/2012 21:22

DD2 had her first tooth at 9 months. 3 months on she's only added another half a tooth to her total!

breatheslowly · 23/01/2012 21:41

DD got her first at 10.5 months. At 16 months she now has 8 (no premolars or canines, just incisors). I don't think it matters except that I think she finds chewing a bit more difficult than some of her little friends.

matana · 23/01/2012 21:42

DS cut his first tooth when he was about 9 months. A boy at his CM's was 1yo when he cut his first one!

Hulababy · 23/01/2012 21:42

DD has no teeth until she was 13m.

strikeuptheband · 23/01/2012 21:43

DS got his a week before his first birthday. Then they all came in one go!

CrispLeCrisp · 23/01/2012 21:46

My dd's were both toothless on their first birthdays.

Apparently as we're her dad and 2 paternal uncles - were you or dh late on the first front teeth scale?

Sadly for dd's the hereditary bit has also followed their dads night dryness history...
