I am not really worried yet, but I would just like to know how common it is. Most babies of a similar age I have come across seem to have at least 2 teeth by now.

How late did everyone's LO get their first teeth?

My DD got her first tooth at 11 months. She's now 19 months and still only has 8 (only just). 12 more to go - oh joy!

I have a theory that there is a link with babies being breastfed, because of all the babies I know who were breastfed past a year every single one is very very late with teeth. I wonder if it's some kind of inbuilt "protection" mechanism from Mother Nature. Grin

Bother of mine were about 12 months before they got their first tooth.

The alternative is that it's something to do with our local (non-mains) water!

My friend still doesn't have any back teeth on one side of her jaw and she's 37! The molars just never materialised, milk or adult.

None until 12 months here

SusiaX · 23/01/2012 22:08

Sorry to quash your theory gaelicsheep but my two were both breastfed and DD got her first one at 21 weeks and DS at 23 weeks. DD got her last ones just before her second birthday and DS, currently 14 months, has got 12.

Don't remember if DD bit me but DS has done it a few times recently so I'm planning to stop breastfeeding in a week or two!

I've met quite a few babies that have none until between 9 months or older.

Must be the water then Grin. DD has bitten me with her very fresh, razor sharp front teeth a good few times but is showing no sign of weaning yet.

My baby boy first two bottom teeth started to make an experience about 7/8 months, he is now 8 months going on 9 months real soon and has a front tooth coming through.

Would'nt worry my daughter is 16 months and only got four teeth, in my veiw the later the better, if they all come through at once its really horrible for them. x
