expatinscotland · 12/09/2005 12:04

DD calls it a 'dubbeet'.

I had the word 'soother', 'binky' or 'paccy' for it.

It's a dummy, ffs.

WigWamBam · 12/09/2005 12:05

My friend always called her little girl's dummy a dody - where does that come from? I've never heard one called titty before, I think that's vile.

SleepySuzy · 12/09/2005 12:07

I call it a dummy!

starshaker · 12/09/2005 12:09

we call hers a tooty or her dum dum ( or as the wee girl i watch says tum tum)

I think dody is a Northern name for a dummy. My mum calls it that anyway, and she's Manchester born and bred, like me.

SleepySuzy · 12/09/2005 12:10

You could be right there - that's what dp calls it.

expatkat · 12/09/2005 12:11

American slang "binky" and "paccy" (snap, expatinscotland). . .drives me to distraction.

WigWamBam · 12/09/2005 12:12

Lyra, I'm in the Midlands but still hear "dody" a lot.

Toothache · 12/09/2005 12:13

Titty is horrible!!

I don't really like pacifier...

Ds called it a Dum dum.

starshaker · 12/09/2005 12:16

starshaker · 12/09/2005 12:26

SleepySuzy · 12/09/2005 12:26

No!!! pmsl!!

bonym · 12/09/2005 12:30

DD1 used to call it her nanny when she was just learning to talk - caused a bit of confusion when we were talking about her paternal grandmother . We called it a dummy.

GillLevey · 12/09/2005 12:36

My SIL calls it a diddy. I don't know why it can't just be called a dummy.

miffy2 · 12/09/2005 12:37

DS'a has a dody/dodee.

My older relatives call it a 'soo-soo' which I hate.

chloe55 · 12/09/2005 13:20

Yep dody was one for our family too, we're from Yorkshire

Tommy · 12/09/2005 13:22

I think my nephew calls his a "doo doo" ..... but don't get me started on that

NomDePlume · 12/09/2005 13:24

DD uses 'dody', or 'dode'. I'm a Manc and my Mum used it for my dummy when I was little.

NomDePlume · 12/09/2005 13:24

Never heard titty before. Horrible

chipmonkey · 12/09/2005 13:29

They're called "dody" in Ireland too!

suedonim · 12/09/2005 13:41

I heard them called dummytits, once, I had no idea what the person was talking about, at first, lol! I guess 'tit' is a contraction of 'teat'?
