What do you think of Crissi-Lee as a girl's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

OP posts:

I love this thread for reasons I can't quite put my finger on

Aitch · 24/06/2010 13:46

oh no stop, please, this is so nasty.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 24/06/2010 13:49

I apologise for posting on this thread, OP. I didn't realise it was an automatically generated thing, and I certainly wouldn't want to cause offence. Usually these threads are about names for hypothetical children.

Hullygully · 24/06/2010 13:50

I always find that hypothetical children are so much better behaved, don't you?

My hypothetical children are little sods, tbh. I have a terribly warped imagination.

Magalyxyz · 24/06/2010 22:37

I like Christa. What about Christa Leigh. Two names, not hyphenated.

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 25/06/2010 02:50

Hang on, it's not automatically generated. What happens is, you put a name in, and then there's a link on the Finder that says "start a new Talk thread about this name" and if you click on that, this OP automatically words itself, and then you still have to click 'start conversation'.

So the OP does still have to choose (twice!) to start a Talk thread about the name.

My apology was aimed at the fact that I has assumed, in light of the identical wording of several threads, that they belonged to the same poster. I was wrong about that, Mumsnet generates the wording. But the poster still chooses to start a thread in Talk. Again, they have to choose to start it and to then post it, it's not an accident. Otherwise every second Baby Names thread would look like this, wouldn't it?

So, Aitch, with much respect, I think you've misunderstood. It's not automatically generated save for the wording.

Yes, it's not automatic but if you choose to start the thread after adding the name, it offers you the wording in the op.

But but but but there is a baby name troll. Not saying it's the op, but there is a troll. Not sure troll is the word actually. A poster who hangs around the baby name threads namechanging and being very odd, suggesting strange names and being generally strange. Haven't seen her for ages though.

DinahRod · 25/06/2010 11:14

SoH, there is one who posts hypothetically about future children and never gets offended by MN reactions, just comes back with more crazy names. I like her! One day she'll post that 'unique' name that everyone loves.

Re the OP who has clicked the link, I like Christa, Christy, Christiana and the shortening Chrissy. I would use Leigh as a mn, unhyphenated.

Sal321 · 25/06/2010 11:16

I don't like hyphenated first names - I work with a few people with these and find that they often drop the second part, but I can't remember whether they have or not, so end up calling them by the first part with a big gap afterwards while I try to remember. That's said, I find remembering if someone is Dave or David difficult.

GetOrfMoiLand · 25/06/2010 11:22

I don't like shortened names.

If the name was Kristobelle-Leeigh that would be so much better.

ShowOfHands · 25/06/2010 11:25

Oh yes DinahRod, she's fun. "I don't have any babies yet and I'm not pg or trying or even in a relationship but what do you think of Undulate?" 200 MNers: it's beyond awful. "Oh well, never mind, what about Vestibule?"

HelenMumsnet · 25/06/2010 11:27

Hello. Apols for barging in but just wanted to say that, yes, when you add a name to the Baby Name Finder there is indeed a link you can click on to start a thread in this topic about that name.

But it's NOT automatic - you do have to click on it before it starts the thread. And you do get the option to twiddle with the wording of the OP if you'd like to before it's posted.

Oh, and the Baby Name Finder troll should not be troubling us again (and all his little additions to the Baby Name Finder should have been well and truly deleted now).

Right, back to Crissi-Lee...

PortiaNovmerriment · 25/06/2010 11:27

Oh, i thought you meant the Muppet troll

ShowOfHands · 25/06/2010 11:32

Helen, I am pleased. That man was a vile, odious little twerp.

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 25/06/2010 11:33

I think it would be fine as a character in Dallas, as Crissi-Lee must be the lovechild of JR Ewing. Otherwise, steer well clear, it's absolutely horrible.

Aitch · 25/06/2010 22:11

yes, i've heard back from MNHQ to that effect, however they're going to look into making the whole thing a lot clearer.
