I love it! DS1 has a little friend called Martha and it seems perfectly normal

diplodoris · 22/06/2010 10:41

Personally I'm not keen, sorry.

helyg · 22/06/2010 10:42

My friend has a little girl called Martha and I think its lovely.

Persnickety · 22/06/2010 10:54

thumb down

emmyloo2 · 22/06/2010 11:02

Not that keen I am afraid. It is one of these old names trying to make a come back but I just think it is not a pretty name.

What about Mabel?

Cortina · 22/06/2010 11:03

Like it.

love it

katechristie · 22/06/2010 11:55

I think I think it's really pretty - what name as middle name as that will probably decide it

MarthaQuest · 22/06/2010 12:02

It's a great name

I chose this user name in homage to the heroine of a set of novels by Doris Lessing I really like, and her nn in the books is 'Mattie' which is really nice too!

DastardlyandSmugly · 22/06/2010 12:09

I love it too. Was my lovely nan's name.

lamplighter · 22/06/2010 12:12

Would seriously consider it for a DD. Love it.

LarkinSky · 22/06/2010 12:27

I know a 18-month-old Martha. Great, strong-but-feminine name. Lovely.

5DollarShake · 22/06/2010 12:31

It's nice, actually. As long as your surname isn't Focker.

flopsy1974 · 22/06/2010 13:34

Love it. We have chosen Martha Ellen for pink bump due in 5 weeks

PickleSarnie · 22/06/2010 14:11

OOoh, I love it. It's going on my list along with Madeleine and Matilda. I seem to have a thing about M's.

merrymonsters · 22/06/2010 15:08

I know a three year old Martha. It's a pretty name.

mathanxiety · 22/06/2010 16:20

Dislike.. I think it's the TH that puts me off, as in Meredith and Ethel. I see it as a 'little old man' name for a girl, like Arthur only with an M.

randomimposter · 22/06/2010 16:26

really like it...
apart from it being the name of DP's big (unrequited) crush at university PLUS surname shares the same first 3 letters, and it all jumbles up. So not on my list!

Not too old at all.

SoBloodyTired · 22/06/2010 20:16

Middle name Ann.

There are several toddler Marthas round here - it's not all that unusual!
