I have a friend called Rose, but her actual name is Rosetta.

Limpopo · 21/06/2010 12:29

Yes

going · 21/06/2010 12:31

Rose and Mae(May) seem to be really over used at the moment.

domesticslattern · 21/06/2010 12:32

Yes.

emmyloo2 · 21/06/2010 12:32

Rose is always used as a middle name. I am not sure why people don't use it as a first name becuase it is lovely.

going · 21/06/2010 12:33

Just want to add Rose is beautful as a first name but seems dull as a second name.

swanandduck · 21/06/2010 13:09

To be honest, I don't see why people get so hung up about middle names. They're so rarely used, I wouldn't agonise too much over it.

Bonsoir · 21/06/2010 13:10

Yes, boring.

DD's current fave name for her future baby is Princess Rose

DilysPrice · 21/06/2010 13:11

Yes it is, but if you can't think of anything you prefer it's a nice safe choice.
I speak as the possessor of a phenomenally dull middle name - it really really doesn't matter.

flopsy1974 · 21/06/2010 14:23

Yes. Although it is a lovely name we changed our minds because of this reason.

singsinthebath · 21/06/2010 14:25

Perfectly lovely

starshaker · 21/06/2010 14:29

I have a Sophie Rose, I have maybe used her middle name twice? in the last 13 months...

I didn't know it was so popular as a middle name, but I still am happy with my choice.

diddl · 21/06/2010 14:44

I think Rose is lovely for a middle name.
I don´t have a middle name & would love Rose-no matter how many others have it

My daughter has boring/chavvy/common/70sLouise-after my lovely, lovely & much missed grandmother.

She loves it & so do I

Wanderingsheep · 21/06/2010 14:46

No, I love it. It's really pretty!

madrose · 21/06/2010 14:53

i wanted rose for her first name, but dh wasn't too keen, so i beg to have it as a second name, and yes we use it, fits in perfectly with her true name and abbreviated name. At the time we didn't know any other roses.

madrose · 21/06/2010 14:54

meant begged, busy typing with one hand whilst on the phone!

BongoWinslow · 21/06/2010 15:54

Love it! First or second name, it's lovely and not as common as some names.

It's my first name of choice if we have a girl - Rose Isobel

overlysentimental · 21/06/2010 15:55

Yes it appears that they do. but they are lovely names so why not!

charley24 · 21/06/2010 16:29

My Dd1 has May as a middle name, after her great grandmother May.

Stokey · 21/06/2010 16:49

Yes but its still pretty

grapeandlemon · 21/06/2010 16:50

It is just beautiful as a second or first name, v classic

brimfull · 21/06/2010 16:51

Tis much better as a first name
but I am biased

liliputlady · 21/06/2010 16:53

Rose is used all the time at the moment, but that's because it's lovely.
