Halcyon and Octavia for my twin girls

I'm expecting non identical girl twins in September.

What do you think of the names Halcyon and Octavia? I know they are rare names and not everyone will like them.

Any ideas for middle names? I have to include Joan as a family name or something like this.

yes maybe there is reason one is popular and other isnt...

I love both names but would never have the courage to use them. Joan I also like but IMO it does have a very different feel.

My personal feeling is that if you go for a more unusual first name, give a much less standout second name; better still, go the other way round.

are names I would admire without reservation. Only my opinion.

names are deeply subjective.quirky/unique to one is naff to another.ask on open forum and you will get comments,in rl likely no one would say outright.more likely to say how do you spell that,thats unusual etc

but tbh i wouldn't and didnt ask opinions on baby manes.people can like or lump as far as i am concerned

Im sorry but I dont like either name... in fact I think they are both awful.

so she's already saddled all 4 children with dreadful (imho) names and is now asking what everyone thinks? Don't get it. God mn has been weird today

Weird. No wonder she was so upset if the dc already have those names.

I like Octavia, I know of 1 who is the 8th child and she's known as Tave, which in my opinion is pretty.
Not sure about Halcyon though, definitely a bit different.
