I love Elodie

mathanxiety · 19/05/2010 20:08

Phoebe.

No matter how hard you try, Elodie will be shortened to Ellie or Elle. And Phoebe is a beautiful name.

suspiria · 19/05/2010 20:15

Elodie is my favourite
I've heard it shortened to Loddie and Dolly

pointydog · 19/05/2010 20:18

phoebe

liliputlady · 19/05/2010 20:32

Elodie is lovely and more unusual.

Horton · 19/05/2010 21:01

Phoebe much nicer.

sapell3 · 20/05/2010 00:09

Elodie

Lora69 · 20/05/2010 00:11

LOL; Phoebe, Elodie, Phoebe, Elodie, Phoebe, Elodie, Phoebe, Elodie!!

Looks like it has split opinion!

Love them both Elodie pips it (but becoming popular)

Hedwig3 · 20/05/2010 16:26

I love that Elodie sounds so like melody.

AndieWalsh · 20/05/2010 16:27

Elodie is pretty, but I much prefer Phoebe, personally.

mamatomany · 20/05/2010 16:31

I like both, my cousins new baby daughter is Phoebe

Bucharest · 20/05/2010 16:38

Neither.

Phoebe is yawnsomely faddy.

Elodie is nice enough if you're French. If you're not, then 99% of English accents slaughter it. (ditto Amelie)

Lora69 · 20/05/2010 18:24

Thanks Bucharest, but I will be going with one of them. I dont expect everyone to like both/either, but just wanted to see which of the 2 was best liked!

I have liked Phoebe for 10 years, so not faddy to me ;)

Phoebe. we have one. lovely. (known as Fee or Bee generally). (often misspelt though).

Not sure how to pronounce Elodie tbh.

BoldChislers · 20/05/2010 18:37

Phoebe.

BoldChislers · 20/05/2010 18:38

I think there is an interesting Welsh name Eluned. Saw it in the name book. If it's pronounced how I think it's pronounced I like it.

oldandgreynow · 20/05/2010 21:29

Elodie sounds to me like trying to say 'Melody' with a cold

suspiria · 21/05/2010 00:28

Lora - I've just heard a 6 year old girl named Elodie called Eddie by her family. Her brother couldn't pronounce it when he was very young and the nickname has remained.

madamefreckle · 21/05/2010 00:32

I'd go with Phoebe. Elodie is very pretty though but some might construe it as trying too hard to be different.
