DH is set on a name for a boy. I am really not keen. I don't hate it but not sure I want to use it either!!! On the other hand, I like another name but DH says he really doesn't like it. Just thought I would see what the favourite out of the two is and if you associate anything with each name! Probably won't be using either anyway!!!

DHs name is Brandon
Mine is Blake

They are both names I can picture on American teenagers/adults but DEFINITELY not on babies

Baby Blake....come on!!!

I can understand you wanting to steer clear of the usual boring suspects in terms of names but you really need to ge the books out again.

lottiejenkins · 29/04/2010 09:46

Jethro reminds me of that bearded comedian who can be quite rude!!

Jojay · 29/04/2010 09:48

Both awful, sorry

brimfull · 29/04/2010 09:55

are you glad you asked now?

lilmissmummy · 29/04/2010 09:59

Umm not keen on either but did know a lovely little boy called Brandon. So I would go with that!!

mumofeightplusfour · 29/04/2010 11:48

i have a teenage blake (named after a composer my dh liked ) we've never had any negative comments he was occasionally blakey as a baby . personally i think its a great name that suits him down to the ground .this website might help it gives idea of what people think when they hear a name www.quickbabynames.com/meaning of blake.html

swanandduck · 29/04/2010 13:32

Don't like either, I'm afraid. Would put them on a par with Wayne or Darren.

Dred · 07/03/2011 20:59

I like them both. Brandon more though, that's my ds name. I'm now worrying people judge the name?

Hulababy · 07/03/2011 20:59

am not struck on either sorry.

BelligerentGhoul · 07/03/2011 21:04

I think they are both v similar names and don't like either of them much tbh sorry.

poppydaisy · 07/03/2011 21:05

This thread is almost a year old - surely the OP will have chosen a name by now Smile.

Dred · 13/03/2011 07:59

hehe, Grin I think it's my fault i dragged this back into active threads, I wanted to see what people thought of the name Brandon. I'll just have to make sure he doesn't live up to being a naughty, thuggish american porn star! Grin

deemented · 13/03/2011 08:04

I've have a Brennan, he was supposed to be a Brendan but that was too big a name for him when he was born, so Brennan it is.

What about Blaize?

alexaj · 14/03/2011 20:04

Blake. Brandon is far too American!

pilates · 14/03/2011 20:27

Don't like either

ShowOfHands · 14/03/2011 20:31

Dred, if you like the name Brandon then that's just fine and all that matters. Children are bigger than their names in the end anyway.

It's a very particular type of name so will divide opinions. If you don't like American surname type names you won't like this one by default. Just the way it is.

Clio99 · 14/03/2011 20:35

Sorry, but I also think they are both awful

knightynight · 14/03/2011 20:46

Do you have any nice boys names in your family, uncles, grandads etc?

knightynight · 14/03/2011 20:49

Just realised this is an old thread, the deed has been done - at least someone is observant poppydaisy!
