DH is set on a name for a boy. I am really not keen. I don't hate it but not sure I want to use it either!!! On the other hand, I like another name but DH says he really doesn't like it. Just thought I would see what the favourite out of the two is and if you associate anything with each name! Probably won't be using either anyway!!!

DHs name is Brandon
Mine is Blake

I dislike both.

A few alternatives:
Austin
Dylan
Justin
Cameron
Logan

kateyfer · 28/04/2010 17:23

sorry, not a fan of either I'm afraid. Brandon is too American high school sounding, Blake is marginally better.

DH and I had the same problem - he loved Guy (I kid you not!!) and I loved Dylan (he was bullied by a Dylan in school, so was a definite no-no). thankfully we had a girl so didn't need to kill each other trying to find a third option!

usualsuspect · 28/04/2010 17:27

I like them both ...

Fimbo · 28/04/2010 17:35

Another in the no camp here.

Brandon is the name of a small town in Suffolk.

Blair?

SachaF · 28/04/2010 17:52

Brandon is a location in Thetford Forest (Norfolk I think).
Blake makes me think of a sci fi character...

SachaF · 28/04/2010 17:55

Sorry, Suffolk!

janeite · 28/04/2010 17:56

I thuink they are very similar sorts of names and I must admit to not being fond of either but, if push came to shove, I'd choose Brandon over Blake.

SweetnessAndShite · 28/04/2010 17:56

Oooh I like Blake. Very nice. Sounds quite strong. Unusual but not odd. Brandon a bit boring and very all american but that's just me!

my ds is Guy

CheerfulYank · 28/04/2010 18:25

Six of one.

I like Brendan or Brennan but not Brandon. Blake is ok.

Wolfblass · 28/04/2010 19:47

If i had to choose then Blake definatley!

KristinaM · 28/04/2010 19:49

i dont like either

but in general, i would think that the person who is expected to squeeze the baby out of a tiny orifice should get the casting vote

kitsmummy · 28/04/2010 21:42

they're both gross, the kind of names given to nasty little shits who beat up other kids at soft play when their mums aren't watching

Neither

nighbynight · 28/04/2010 22:18

Not terribly keen on either. Brandon is terrible, Blake is better.

dannas · 29/04/2010 00:28

Of the two, Blake.

Clary · 29/04/2010 00:36

Oh sorry I don't really like either of those I am afraid.

They are similar in style to my ears actually. Brandon is the name of the naughty boy in class (sorry to any Brandons!) Blake is white haired man in Dynasty.

Both rather American. But then you may be American OP. In which case fair enough.

kailie · 29/04/2010 06:17

I'm thinking that if neither of you like each other's choices then please keep looking for a name that you BOTH like.

Tiny babies do tend to grow up and one day may be bringing their little ones to visit grandma - an awful long time to live with a name that you're not keen on!!

Personally I think Blake & Brandon are very similar, with Brandon maybe getting the edge just because I don't like the harsh sound of Blake ( which is slightly perverse because I like Jake as a name!!)

activate · 29/04/2010 06:42

I hate the name Blake and can barely stand the name Brandon

but then it's not my child is it?

you shouldn't ask for opinions, everyone has one

Xavielli · 29/04/2010 08:20

Neither very nice.

Brennan would be my first choice is surname-names were my thing.

StepSideways · 29/04/2010 08:23

Neither

lottiejenkins · 29/04/2010 08:26

Brandon reminds me of Pamela Anderson (her sons name)
Blake reminds me of Dynasty!!!

diddl · 29/04/2010 08:30

If forced I would choose Brandon, but preferably neither!

My fave name at the moment is Jethro.
