Were really struggling with names and cant see to agree, I have two boys Alfie and Archie, so not sure whether to keep the granny chic or leave it there and have a more individual name.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Girls

Holly
Keeley
Lilian, or Lillian, ( love this with nn Lily
Lillianna

I like Samuel best (Sam), and Will second

And Harriet for a girl

I personally don't like hyphenated names

alfiemama · 05/05/2010 17:07

Thanks Jamieandhismagictorch (love the name)
Do you think hyphenated names are a tad old fashioned now?

Thanks

i just think it's maybe a bit of a mouthful. And lots of people will end up just using the first bit, so then what was the point? But that's just me ....

I do like Annie though

alfiemama · 05/05/2010 18:40

Thanks Jamie
I told my friend and she said "Hey thats my name" she had a mc last year and apparently was going to call her Annie, if she had a girl, so now can't help but feel insensitive if I use it.

Would you consider Claudia? It's a current favourite of mine

(Actually Claudia Jane - from the West Wing - CJ)

Jamieandhismagictorch · 05/05/2010 21:30

or Marianne nn Annie/Nan

alfiemama · 05/05/2010 21:47

I like Claudia, however I don't like its meaning, as my son is disabled aswell, just would feel tempting fate.
I mentioned Marianne to hubby, he quite likes it. Thanks
Quite like Primrose now

Jamieandhismagictorch · 06/05/2010 07:49

didn't know Claudia had an unpleasant meaning ....sorry

alfiemama · 06/05/2010 09:19

no its ok hun, think its disabled or lame. Just kind of puts you off a lovely name.

Louie, Charlie - no more names ending in ie
Flynn - no doesnt go with teh others
Benjamin - ditto
William - yes, as long as you call him Wills and not Billy
Henry - yes, but will he be Harry? Are your other sons Archibald and Alfred?

Jesse, Marley, Noah, Rudy - no

Pippa and Violet only ones without ie ending

alfiemama · 06/05/2010 10:35

Hi Kristina, no they are Alfie and Archie, unless they have been naughty
Hubby has vetoed Violet and not sure now on Pippa.

What do we all think of Primrose? hubby vetoed but now quite likes

Annie is a perfectly lovely name. but not for Archie and Alfies sister, it will drive you mad, you will always be calling them by the wrong name

Elsie, Evie, Lily all lovely but still ie souund

so i woudl go for

Alice, Primrose, Harriet and Roselie or Rosslyn

and Noah or Henry

i do think that as you have gone for for the shortened / informal versions of the other boys names you would be better with Harry

why not Freddie or Eddie?

i knwo they are ie names again

but then i knwo two perfectly lovely brothers called Harry and Archie

alfiemama · 07/05/2010 19:44

Thanks Kristina, I would have Harry but my best friends little boy is called Harry.
I quite like Edward so Eddie is cute. Freddie, my other friend has just used this, argghh.
How about Hannah, Anna,Isla, or Ivy?

I think I'm struggling more with girls names.

OP posts:
KristinaM · 07/05/2010 20:00

oh i like all these girls names

KristinaM · 07/05/2010 20:02

ivy and iris certainly rocking the granny chic

KristinaM · 07/05/2010 20:04

jean
jane
mary

alfiemama · 07/05/2010 20:05

Thanks Kristina, Hannah is my grans name aswell, although another friend has a girl called Hannah. Which do you prefer the best.
Another thing I would like is a middle name that isnt the popular ones.

My friend just suggested Willow, not sure on tthat one.

OP posts:
alfiemama · 07/05/2010 20:20

Ooh like Iris, think may prefer to Ivy (reminds me of Ivy Brennan aka Corry)
Quite like Jean as well, but no way hubby would go for it.
How about Esme or Joanie? ( I know ie names are back lol)

OP posts:
KristinaM · 07/05/2010 20:26

i have an Anna so am biased

willow nice but more new age than granny chic

also love joanie and esme, esme better i think ( not ie)

its so hard isnt it? i coudln't decide all pg and left it right until the last minute to register the births

alfiemama · 07/05/2010 20:31

Anna is lovely and goes lovely with your name.
I don't think we will decide until after, would like to narrow down to 1-3 names though and see what he/she looks like.
