So which of the above for baby No3? We seem to be quite into nicknames in our family, so would probably end up with Mimi/Miri, Immy or Edie.

imogen
although I do like Edie, but not Edith

RooBear · 16/04/2010 12:52

Imogen for me too!

Jojay · 16/04/2010 12:53

Imogen

LetThereBeRock · 16/04/2010 13:13

Imogen then Miranda.Never Edith.

foodfairy · 16/04/2010 14:10

Thanks for the speedy responses. Looks like Imogen is the winner! DH likes that as well, although I've still got a soft spot for Edith (mind you don't really like Edie!).

Really like Miranda, but have American relations and don't like how the name sounds when pronounced with an American accent!

Edith but I am biased

plimsolls · 16/04/2010 14:13

I knew a 6 year old called Edith. I never liked the name before then but when it was attached to a real person it seemed much nicer. I think it is quite elegant and pretty.

plimsolls · 16/04/2010 14:14

Oh, and her nn was DiDi (p DeeDee) but only with close family, think she was called Edith at school.

Violet5 · 16/04/2010 14:29

I have an Imogen Maria (10 years old), i'm expecting again at the mo, if i had another girl i would LOVE to call her Miranda but i can't get my husband to like it

ozmetric · 16/04/2010 15:00

Miranda or Edith.

KAEKAE · 16/04/2010 19:29

Imogen....
I dislike Edith.

Surprise · 16/04/2010 20:08

Imogen is lovely, but very popular round this way. I'd definitely choose Edith. Although I love the name Rita, so what do I know?

SillyTillyBilly · 16/04/2010 20:12

I love Mimi and Miri but don't like Miranda at all - sorry! How about Miriam?

I quite like Edith/Edie?

I never particularly like the sound of Imogen when it is spoken but Imie is cute. Imogen is a nice strong name though and all the Imogens I know are lovely.

DebiNewberry · 16/04/2010 20:14

I would go for Miriam over Miranda any day, nn Mimi

Edith and Imogen good too. Imogen less 'cool' if that worries you - in either direction.

janeite · 16/04/2010 20:16

All nice but Miranda is my favourite. as a serious contender for dd1 (nn Mimi) but it sounded wrong with dp's surname.

janeite · 16/04/2010 20:16

Was a serious contender - the mystery of the lost 'W' there...

foodfairy · 16/04/2010 20:19

Thought Imogen was vaguely original - where abouts are you Surprise? I love Mimi as well STB but Miriam is DD middle name already. . . And didi rather sweet as well hadn't thought of that.

Probably going for Esther as a middle name after gandmother if that makes a difference.

Thanks for all the responses.

Imogen.

baskingseals · 16/04/2010 22:09

miranda - it's a beautiful name

janeite · 16/04/2010 22:13

Esther is lovely but I don't like Edith Esther due to the double 'E' combination. I also don't like Immy as nn for Imogen.

Miranda Esther is lovely.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 16/04/2010 22:14

Our Edith is Edith Eleanor

janeite · 16/04/2010 22:16

Eleanor = another lovely name.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 16/04/2010 22:16

It is and very underused.

PictureThis · 16/04/2010 22:21

I have an Imogen and her nn is Mimi

muminthemiddle · 16/04/2010 23:31

I like Edith the best (definately due a come back). Imogen is nice too, Miranda would be my last choice.
