What do you think of Rufus as a boy's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

no

Lizzylou · 31/03/2010 18:35

I love it, DS2 has a friend called Rufus and when I heard it I was gutted I hadn't thought of it.

LadyBlaBlah · 31/03/2010 18:36

woof woof

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 31/03/2010 18:37

I do like it but I don't know any humans called it, just a dog and a horse so it puts me off a bit.

Tillyscoutsmum · 31/03/2010 18:37

I like it and it was on the list for DS

8oreighty · 31/03/2010 18:38

I love love love rufus, but think you need red hair for it.

StrictlyKatty · 31/03/2010 18:41

I adore it. DH said he'd rather die than stand in a park shouting for Rufus and having everyone wonder where his dog was

8oreighty · 31/03/2010 18:44

it's just silly that everyone gives their dogs real names. My friend has a friend called Rex though...which I also like

blametheparents · 31/03/2010 18:57

My SIL has just called her dog Rufus

i LOVE it - I think we have very similar tastes in names as I love Saskia too

hi lockets

StrictlyKatty · 31/03/2010 19:45

Roo I couldn't. It'd be like naming your child after Wayne Rooney or that's what every man would think at least!

CuppaTeaJanice · 31/03/2010 19:48

It's quite posh. You'll have to dress him in Boden!

BallpointPen · 31/03/2010 19:49

Love it.

ellesabe · 31/03/2010 21:21

Love it!

BitOfFun · 31/03/2010 21:23

My first dog. Ruby Cavalier. He was gorgeous.

I know a Roo though- I think it's short for Rupert though.

Prinpo · 31/03/2010 23:03

I love it, don't care about the dog connotations. I'd use it except we already have one child starting with 'R' and I'm funny about stuff like that. Love it love it love it.

RCT · 31/03/2010 23:19

Was a bit scared to open this thread as I have one - obviously I adore it !

LetThereBeRock · 31/03/2010 23:56

I love it.

ChippingIn · 01/04/2010 06:41

Lovely - for a Red Setter....

(Sorry RCT!!)

heading4home · 01/04/2010 07:00

I love it and have it on my own shortlist.

I already can hear my mum saying it's a dog's name - but she says that about Felix, Oscar, Jaspar etc etc, all of which I think are wonderful names!

diddl · 01/04/2010 07:56

Love it!

pitterpatterfeet · 01/04/2010 08:42

A bit naff, overused and dog name - mind you as heading4home said (and they were saying on radio 4!) people are using dog's names for children these days and vice versa!
