Ok our new arrival is already 4 days old and still has no name, Its getting to the uncomfortable stage when people now ask whats his name ? and we go Errrrrr !!

We have narrowed it to 3 names....we already have a 2 year old called Gene which we think is fantastic and unique.

Help please with either ..Sonny ???
Asa ???
Rudy ???

This thread will decide the babys future

I love Sonny, my only hesitation would be if I lived near Liverpool or somewhere with a thick accent because it would change the name... >.<

I like Asa but I thought it was a girls name, it's quite a delicate name but then if little one is a delicate child it would be good!

I don't mind Rudy but it always reminds me of Ruby which is quite popular, and is also forever linked to "nudey-rudy" which is what we say here for nekkid!

Not much help, they are all lovely ... I definitely think Sonny and Gene go well together!

Guad · 26/02/2010 14:09

I like Rudy but Sonny is nice too. Not keen on Asa.

Picklepaints · 26/02/2010 14:10

Ps - congrats!

AllieW · 26/02/2010 14:12

Not keen on either Rudy or Sonny. Asa's ok. How about something like Abner? Seems to fit with the feel of Gene.

Chunkamatic · 26/02/2010 14:12

Thank you all....We live in Berkshire so dont have to worry about strong accents !!

Abner is intersting..old fashioned name, However its taken long enough to get down to three

Thanks anyway though

I love Sonny (it will be a contender for dc3 when I finally conceive) and think it goes well with Gene.
Second choice would be Rudy
Not keen on Asa but couldn't say why tbh.

TweedyneeCole · 26/02/2010 16:52

All great names. Does he not look more like one of the names? (probably not...sorry!).

Personally, I'd go for Asa as it's the most grown up and 'proper' of the names. A real name for a gorgeous man! The other two are also very cool, though. Sorry, no help, am I?!

OtterInaSkoda · 26/02/2010 16:57

Rudy of course - because I love the song.

Supergem · 26/02/2010 16:59

Struggling to figure out how Sonny would be pronounced any differently with a Scouse accent....?

motherlovebone · 27/02/2010 00:18

Asa fits.

the others too popular i predict.

seeker · 27/02/2010 00:32

But why Sonny? Just imagine yourself a manager with a team of back chatting apprentices.

Why do people even consider Sonny as a name? It's a patronizing diminutive old people use, or the sort of word policemen on telly use for a criminal.

lowrib · 27/02/2010 00:33

Rudy is a great name, love it!

lowrib · 27/02/2010 00:38

Agree with seeker - Sonny just isn't a real name to me. It's more of a default, or a name you use when you don't know the name - like "oi you!" or"dear" or "poppit"

Asa. Neither of the others.

cyteen · 27/02/2010 07:16

Congratulations!

Of your three, I only like Asa. But it doesn't go with Gene, so probably Rudy is your best bet.

Skegness · 27/02/2010 07:22

Rudy.

allaboutme · 27/02/2010 08:33

LOVE Gene! Out of your 3 choices I like Sonny best and think it goes the best with Gene as well.
I do like Rudy as well but not so keeon on Asa

seeker · 27/02/2010 08:39

Please will someone explain Sonny to me? Isn't it the same as calling your child YoungFellerMeLad? And what it would be like to be a middle aged father of 4 called Sonny? Or the Prime Minister? Or a warehouse manager trying to manage a difficult group of staff? Or. frankly, any adult male trying to be taken seriously in any slightly difficult situation?
