Oooh, I love them both. My niece is Stella (nn Lala) but I wanted Lois if DS had been a girl, I love them both! I'd say that Stella would have an easier life in terms of spelling out her name, prounouncaition etc.

belindarose · 19/02/2010 21:26

I love Stella.

Maria2007loveshersleep · 19/02/2010 21:27

I think Stella is a lovely name. Lois I don't like so much, sorry. Sounds a bit old-fashioned and mother-henny to my ears (not sure why).

stleger · 19/02/2010 21:35

I toyed with Stella as my dd2's name, as the night after she was born was all frosty and starry. I still love it. (Although we live in Cork, where it is used to describe girls like Lauren off Catherine Tate!)

IHaveABlueCar · 19/02/2010 21:37

I love Lois. If we go for dc3 and get a dd that's our number one name.

Not keen on Stella but only because I have an irrational hatred of Stella McCartney

noddyholder · 19/02/2010 21:40

Love stella

dizzydixies · 19/02/2010 22:42

Lois

MaggieMaeve · 19/02/2010 22:58

Stella is pretty and I do like it, but I choose Lois. It's strong but attractive iykwim..

mathanxiety · 20/02/2010 00:01

I love Stella. Lois seems very church ladyish to me.

mintyfresh · 20/02/2010 00:07

OOh I love both these names - would say whatever goes best with your last name!! My DH vetoed Stella as it would remind him of a certain drink - I was gutted!

Finona · 20/02/2010 00:12

DH said Stella's a beer and Lois is lois lane. I like both, but prefer Stella.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 20/02/2010 08:39

We LOVE Lois but our surname begins with S and so the two names run together making it sound like 'Lowie'.

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/02/2010 08:48

I like them both, but prefer Stella.

SqueezyB · 20/02/2010 10:43

Oooh, I like Stella! Not so keen on Lois, a bit American.

Jojay · 20/02/2010 10:45

Stella

diddl · 20/02/2010 10:52

Lois.

letsblowthistacostand · 20/02/2010 19:06

Why not just go with Stella Lois? Both names are great IMO, maybe just wait until she's born to see which she suits best. Don't think you'd go wrong with either.

blametheparents · 20/02/2010 19:22

I prefer Lois

danceswithfools · 20/02/2010 19:27

I love the name Lois, but our surname starts with s too, so couldn't use it. It's a great name, a little unusual but not way out.

ronx · 20/02/2010 19:28

Thumbs-up for Stella

passmethegin · 20/02/2010 19:41

Definitely Stella. Was the name we had for number 3 but turned out to be a boy. I mourned the fact that we couldn't use the name for ages!!

AllieW · 21/02/2010 08:23

Lois! I love it. There's something a little harsh about the sound of Stella to my ear.

notsoteenagemum · 21/02/2010 08:33

I love Stella but I know that where I live there are lots of children called after drinks (Chardonnay, Tia Maria, Bailey, Foster) and I wouldn't want to people to think I'd done the same.

I love Lois as well I think it's probably a bit less likely to date than Stella too.

Peaceflower · 21/02/2010 08:41

Lois sounds very feminine. Stella has a harsh sound, but its' still a pretty name.

Depends on which goes best with your surname, I think.

Love notsoteenagemum "children called after drinks"!
