Edie is lovely. Allegra, Marina and Alyssia somehow too pretty. Olympia makes me think of a fat girl, sorry. Ava, Elsa are nice. Not sure about Biba, is it even a name?

mummyloveslucy · 04/01/2010 16:11

Out of all of them, I like Georgia, Edie, Alyssia and Elsa.
I'm not too keen on the others.

MrsBadger · 04/01/2010 16:13

Allegra is fine if you are poncey enough

Alyssia sounds like an overworked Alicia, but Alicia itself is nice.

Biba is not a name.

Olympia is a large stadium in London and the corresponding tube station.

Ava and Elsie are ok but not my bag

I would go for Edith over Edie

Georgia, Marina and Elsa all passable.

birdofthenorth · 04/01/2010 16:19

Love Edie and Elsa

jellybeans · 04/01/2010 16:54

Allegra LIKE ABIT
Alyssia LIKE
Ava OK
Biba DISLIKE
Edie OLD GRANNY
Elsa OK
Georgia OK BIT OVERDONE IN 90s
Marina LAST OF SUMMER WINE
Olympia AWFUL

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 04/01/2010 17:13

Of all of them, I prefer Ava, but would like to mention that there used to be a really awful car called an Allegro, and for that reason alone would not suggest you call the poor little mite Allegra.

teafortwo · 04/01/2010 17:22

Elsa...

because I love the sound of the word. Elsa sounds as lovely and dreamy as a sigh and a stretch on an idyllic picnic on the Cambridge backs on a hot but early summer's day.

Beauiful name - timeless, educated and terribly romantic!

SplitPea · 04/01/2010 17:24

Allegra - ok, could grow on me, although the car thing could be a problem.
Alyssia - ok
Ava - LOVE
Biba - ok(ish)
Edie - Love
Elsa - Like
Georgia - Like
Marina - Nah
Olympia - No.

tethersend · 04/01/2010 17:42

The test of a name for me is "Can I imagine it bellowed across the fruit and veg section of Waitrose?"

I can with all of yours I'm afraid. Not good.

"Allegra, put the kohlrabbi down!"

Nope.

MrsBadger · 04/01/2010 18:13

I do the HaTShIT test - is it Hard To Shout in Tesco?

skihorse · 04/01/2010 18:17

The only one I love is Allegra - the rest are just blah.

Facebookaddict · 04/01/2010 18:37

skilhorse I also love Allegra but does that mean you think my daughter's name - Mariella - is blah ?

MrsBadger · 04/01/2010 18:43

but Mariella wasn;t on the list

Facebookaddict · 04/01/2010 19:11

It was in the thread... I realise now comment prob intended for OP list, but I had thought it was for all prementioned!

hester · 04/01/2010 19:14

mathanxiety · 04/01/2010 19:34

Allegra -- too like a car or medicine
Alyssia -- trying too hard to add syllables and letters to a name; prefer Alicia or Alice
Ava -- like a lot but would go with Aoife
Biba -- very nice, maybe a bit nicknamey?
Edie -- would use Edith on birth cert
Elsa -- LOVE
Georgia -- no
Marina -- LIKE A LOT
Olympia -- LIKE A LOT
